POSITION TITLE: Scheduling Secretary POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the office supervisor, and/or Director the scheduler’s duties include answering multi-line telephone, transferring incoming calls to appropriate staff, ability to take accurate and complete phone messages, registration, and scheduling of patient’s appointments in a fast paced office environment. Additional duties to include maintaining accurate patient records, support in chart filing, and other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS: QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: General clerical skills to include ability to type 60 wpm, excellent spelling, excellent computer knowledge and skills (Microsoft Office, Meditech). Demonstrate superior communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to maintain excellent relationships with clinic personnel and medical staff. Basic knowledge of all other departments in the hospital and maintain effective relationships with them. PREFERRED: Medical Terminology TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Medium physical/mental capabilities required. Must be able to work independently as well as with physicians, patients/family members and other co-workers courteously. Must be able to prioritize work demands and organize time efficiently. Must be clear thinking. Able to work with time constraints, high stress situations and multiple tasks. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while filing and have the ability to stay focused on monotonous and repetitive tasks. Must be able to walk/maneuver frequently in and around clinic building. Handle multiple telephone lines. Excellent problem solving skills required. Must have high degree of accuracy with alphabet. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy. Must also possess hand/eye coordination skills sufficient to sort small pieces of paper and file folders adequately. PAY RANGE: $15.10-$22.71
