Description

Position Overview: Sets up and operates metal sawing machines such as hacksaw, bandsaw, circular saw, to cut metal stock to dimensions and fabricates metal by performing the following duties
Tasks:
  • Reads job order for specifications such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut
  • Obtains and transfers stock to machine
  • Installs saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation
  • Sets saw blade angle to obtain desired angle cuts
  • Sets stops and guides to control dimension of cut
  • Positions and secures stock against stops or in feeding device
  • Turns valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area
  • Starts machine and observes operation. Measures work for conformance to specifications
  • Marks identifying data on part
  • Replaces defective cutting blade or wheel
  • Lays out and marks reference points onto parts
  • Operates machines such as shears, cutoff saws, brakes, punch press, form roll and drill press, to cut and shape parts to specified dimensions.

Safety:
  • Use all required PPE equipment

Maintain Work Practices:
  • Keep a clean and organized work area using the 5S standard
  • Work well with other co-workers and supervision

Requirements

Education:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Continuing Education preferred but not required

Experience:
  • Six months to 1 year related experience and/or training.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work overtime

  • Knowledge of the fabrication
