This position directs the terminal safety management process and provides overall support and guidance to the terminal operations functions. The Manager coordinates with the Terminal Manager as well as the Director of Safety in executing strategies for building and maintaining a culture of safety throughout the office, yard, and road transport operations. The Manager is responsible for oversight of regulatory compliance; provides initial safety training and conducts qualification checks for both employee and contract drivers; conducts, and maintains records of, recurrent safety training for drivers and other terminal personnel; coordinates and manages the accident investigation and response process; conducts audits and inspections of the transportation safety process; and monitors statistics reflecting safety performance. Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in transportation logistics or safety management preferred. Five or more years of transportation management and/or safety management experience experience. Generally sedentary office work environment but required to frequently conduct training and inspection in warehouse, yard and shop facilities as well as on and around trailers and trucks. Some climbing on ladders and steps required. Walking, standing, bending and stretching for extended periods of time. Lifting up to 25 pounds. Must possess ability to work nights and weekends where operations require.
