Position Summary:

Safety & Food Defense Coordinator acts as a liaison between enforcing company policy/procedure and regulatory agencies, and federal, state and municipal government. They will handle all matters relating to public health and safety, employee protection and sanitation practices in multi-facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • HACCP and PCQI certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrate the desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, product quality and reliability.
  • Detail oriented and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year of related Safety experience
  • Knowledge of industrial safety regulations
  • Familiarity with safety programs, i.e. Hazard Communication, Lockout Tagout
  • Knowledge of Powered Industrial Vehicle safety regulations
  • Forklift operation experience preferred
  • Ability to conduct accident investigations
  • Ability to conduct and document safety training
  • Ability to work in a team environment and exposure to health/safety department
  • Ability to create documentation and logs
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills, detailed oriented, self-motivated, and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong professional communication skills, both oral and in writing. Ability to lead others

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and adhere to corporate policies and practices while representing the company in an ethical and professional manner in all interactions with employees, customers, suppliers, visitors and government agencies.
  • Maintain well-organized record keeping activities.
  • Oversee and maintain all production, farming operations, and facility pre-requisite HACCP programs.
  • Oversee and ensure loyalty to policies and programs that meet corporate goals and provide education on quality, product-security, and food safety.
  • Develop, implement, and execute facility standard operating procedures according to GAP, GMP, HACCP and FSMA requirements and oversee internal and third party audits.
  • Perform safety inspections to identify employee or food safety hazards around the facility and grounds.
  • Provide safety support and information to employees.
  • Identify safety training needs and coordinate safety training programs.
  • Participate in new product and process reviews, including process-hazard analysis.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance throughout the operation.
  • Promote safety awareness through communication and specific training programs.
  • Review and follow up on incident reports.
  • Develop and monitor branch safety goals and objectives.
  • Oversee monthly Safety Committee meetings.
  • Analyze safety trends and make recommendations.


Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree or safety certifications preferred.
  • 3+ years warehouse experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience within a high-volume, fast-paced distribution environment preferred.
  • Forklift certification and reach-truck driving experience preferred.
  • Available to work scheduled shift hours as needed to support ALL shifts and departments.
