Clinical Instructor

A clinical instructor is responsible for overseeing activities and respiratory procedures at the clinical site.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and academic/professionalism grades and promptly report attendance or professionalism problems to the Dean or Associate Dean.
  • Abide by school policies/procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.
  • Attend annual graduation ceremony.
  • Participate in committees when assigned.
  • Start and end clinical rotation at scheduled times.
  • Conduct pre and/ or post conferences with the students to further respiratory knowledge.
  • Make rounds to check on students every 1-2 hours.
  • Be present to sign off skills practiced in lab or discussed in class the first time they are done in the clinical setting and additionally if the instructor feels it is merited.
  • Tutor/conference with students as needed and appropriate.
  • Score at least an average of 87% on student course evaluations per three modules evaluated.
  • Communicate with students if they are absent or late for clinical. Communicate information to the Dean or Associate Dean.
  • Meet all professional development plans successfully and submits proof to the Dean.
  • Attend professional meetings and conferences.
  • Conduct assigned courses that result in a high level of student satisfaction and course completion.
  • Be a professional representative of Stevens-Henager College in the clinical setting.
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs.

Qualifications:

  • Education – A minimum of an Associate's Degree with an emphasis in respiratory therapy is required
  • Licensure - Current license to practice respiratory therapy in the state of Idaho
  • Credential - Current CRT or RRT
  • Experience – Must have a minimum of four years of related practical work experience in subject areas taught.

  • TBD by supervisor within 90 days of hire.
