Wildcat has the ability to self-perform many types of civil construction including earthwork and site prep, concrete and asphalt paving, civil and structural concrete, rock excavation, piling and sheet piling, sub-grade stabilization, and water/waste-water treatment facilities. We also have a tremendous amount of experience with all underground utilities including sanitary sewer, water, storm sewer, and main electrical distribution.

The Sherwood Companies have a proven track record of completing a variety of projects from General Construction, to Construction Management and Design Build Projects for both public and private owners. A brief summary of the types of projects include, urban expressways, bridges, underground utilities, dam construction, asphalt/concrete paving and water/wastewater treatment plants.

JOB DESCRIPTION


The incumbent will be responsible for designing, installing and repairing rough wooden structures, including: scaffolds, guardrail, concrete forms, sewer supports and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel. The incumbent will need to operate in a safe and efficient manner following all personal protective equipment (PPE) and process requirements. Travel may be required.


ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE


  • Keep work area clean, orderly and safe
  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or plans to prepare the layout of the project
  • Estimate height, width, length and other proportions
  • Select materials
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and/or erect structures
  • Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives
  • Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings
  • Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications
  • Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure
  • Create structures for pouring concrete
  • Build concrete forms for tunnel or sewer construction project
  • Erect scaffolding
  • Build guardrail
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


  • High School or Degree or GED required
  • 2-3 years of experience in heacy construction carpentry experience preferred
