RN- Weekend Option Premium- Intensive Care Unit Full Time Days Details

Posting Details: Premium Weekend Option (Full time .9FTE or part time .6FTE) •Team member will receive their experience based hourly pay rate plus $15.00 per hour weekend option differential •All shifts worked doing clinical care, regular productive hours including non-weekend shifts, will be paid at the premium rate (Experience base rate + $15.00 per hour) •Saturday and Sunday will be required shifts unless the manager indicates Friday is a designated day to work •Team member will receive six (6) shifts off during the six (6) month commitment period (currently 4 shifts)* •The part-time commitment will follow the same guidelines but will not work the 3rd shift during the week Flex Weekend Option (Full time .9FTE or part time .6FTE) •.9 FTE (72 hrs a pay period) Team member’s will receive their experience based hourly pay rate plus $15.00 per hour weekend differential for 9 of the 12 shifts worked each month. The 3 remaining shifts worked during the week will be paid at the experience based rate of pay •.6 FTE (48 hrs a pay period) Team member’s will receive their experience based hourly pay rate plus $15.00 per hour weekend differential for 6 of the 8 shifts worked each month. The 2 remaining shifts worked during the week will be paid at the experience based rate of pay •Team member will receive the differential from Friday morning at 7:00am through shifts ending Monday morning at 7:00am •All shifts Monday through Friday at 7:00am will be paid at the experience base rate •Saturday and Sunday will be required shifts unless the manager indicates Friday is a designated day to work •Weekend shifts will be scheduled in advance. The manager will decide the weekend off Description: Performs the primary function of a Registered Professional Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating a designated group of patients in accordance with all established Nursing Standards and Hospital Policies. Is responsible for managing all assigned personal supplies, equipment on the unit, and for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.

1. Directs all care to team members, students, PCT's, and UA's. 5%
2. Acts as a patient liaison and advocate. 5%
3. Assures proper documentation. 15% a. Documents assessments.

c. Formulates, updates, and revises treatment plans and goals. 4. Participates in discharge planning: 5%
a. Identifies home educational needs.
b. Instructs and educates patients to diet, medications, activities, etc. 5. Assures orders are processed as follows: 5%
a. Checks and signs off orders.
b. Accepts telephone orders from physicians.
c. Ensures documentation of advanced directives.
6. Makes initial and continuous patient assessment: 20%
a. Communicates the interpretation of lab data, EKG’s, etc.
b. Consults with physician.
c. Makes patient rounds, using ICARE model.
d. Manages patient’s in-house transfer through system.
e. Reviews drug therapy.
f. Assesses ADL’s
g. Coordinates administration of treatments between disciplines. 7. Coordinates all aspects of patient care, including planning, intervention, education, and evaluation: 18%
a. Develops, maintains, and applies age-specific knowledge relevant to the care of the patient population served.
b. Inserts NG tube.
c. Initiates TPN, blood, and blood products.
d. Performs IV insertions, troubleshooting and maintenance.
e. Performs phlebotomy.
f. Accesses and flushes ports. (unit specific)
g. Performs IV push medications and flushes.
h. Performs staple removal.
i. Performs drain removal. (unit specific)
j. Initiates physician orders.
k. Participates in Code Blue/RRT team response.
l. Provides patient education. 8. Assists with the insertion and management of central venous catheters (CVC): 2% a. Assists with the insertion of a CVC.
b. Cleanses the CVC hub appropriately prior to specimen collection or medication administration.
c. Maintains line patency through proper flushing techniques.
d. Changes sterile dressing. 9. Participates as a team member on the division 5% a. Participates in the "Every Patient is My Patient Initiative" b. Displays FACES behaviors. c. Education: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri Required. Nursing Diploma or Associates in Nursing Required. BSN or completion of BSN within 5 years of hire date is required.
Experience: Capable of working to prescribed Hospital Policies and Nursing Standards.
The patient care provided will take into consideration the specific age-related needs of the patient. Nursing divisions may provide patient care to neonates/infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric adults.
Current certification in a Basic Life Support required or course will need to be completed during orientation classes, prior to working on the nursing divisions.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 1 year for ICU.
Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for Maternity and Newborn Services, Pediatrics, SCN.
COMPETENCY WILL BE VALIDATED AT LEAST ONCE EVERY THREE YEARS. STANDARDS DENOTING AN ANNUAL OR MORE FREQUENT COMPETENCY VALIDATION ARE LOCATED IN THE SCOPE OF PRACTICE. COMPLETION OF HOSPITAL SAFETY PROGRAMS ARE REQUIRED ANNUALLY. PARTICIPATION IN A BLS, ACLS, NRP IS REQUIRED EVERY TWO YEARS.
Working Conditions: Employee is required to walk continuously and sit occasionally. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) medium (21-50 lbs.) load occasionally and heavy (50 lbs. +) load frequently. Employee may be required to lift over 100 lbs with assistance. Employee is frequently required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. For repetitive action, employee is required to use both hands for simple grasping and pushing/pulling. Employee is occasionally exposed to electrical hazards and CRT terminal work. Verbal and cognitive ability, as well as motor coordination and manual dexterity are required. Speech, hearing, and near-visual acuity are required. May be needed to work any shift due to 24-hour day, 7 days per week operation. May be required to work on other patient care units as needed. Employee is frequently exposed to blood borne pathogens.
