HealthSource Saginaw (HSS) is looking for RN Graduate Nurses who are passionate about the work they do. As a Graduate Nurse, you will work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse Preceptor who will carry you along your journey to becoming an experienced nurse. We offer opportunities in Behavioral Medicine, Long Term Care and Medical Rehabilitation. Limited spots are available for each graduating class so do not hesitate to contact us ahead of your graduation to secure your spot! After successfully passing the NCLEX, you will transition into a full-time Registered Nurse position.

New staff must have proof of meeting the vaccination guidelines per CMS guidelines. New staff must be fully vaccinated or have submitted and approved exemption prior to their date of hire.


  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and in the process of obtaining Registered Nurse license from the State of Michigan. Requires passing NCLEX within forty-five (45) days.
  • Approved CPR certification.

As part of the graduate learning experience, the GN may participate in all delegated activities of the licensed RN scope of practice in accordance with the Michigan Public Health Code with the following exceptions:

The RN preceptor will review the patient’s condition, then review and co-sign the following patient care documents prepared by the GN:

  • Nursing Assessment
  • Plan of Care
  • Progress Notes
  • Flow Sheets

The GN may not:

  • Receive any verbal or telephone orders
  • Administer medications
  • Process written medication orders
  • Document on the Medication Administration Record
  • Receive an Omnicell password
  • Initiate or discontinue seclusion or restraints
  • Delegate or supervise nursing service personnel
  • Make shift assignments
  • Discharge a patient
  • Engage in high risk procedures that place the patient at risk for harm without direct supervision by the RN

The GN may and should:

Identify rationale for medication use on all their patients

Verify appropriate medication doses and IV flow rates

Identify intended effects as well as potential side effects of all medications

Participate in monitoring patients for side effects and response to medications

Collaborates with RN preceptor for the assessment, analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing and patient care.

Collaborates with RN preceptor to assess health care needs of patients through a variety of assessments and develops, implements, and evaluates an individualized nursing plan of care.

Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of general nursing principles and practices.

Skilled in the application of nursing techniques.

Ability to carry out detailed instructions.

Ability to instruct others on promotion of health and prevention of disease.

Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.

Ability to maintain records and professional documentation.

Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and culture of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
