The retail pharmacies at Banner Health provide a valuable, convenient service to our employees, hospital based patients and patients from our clinics. These services help to reduce readmission rates, improve patient outcomes and assist in keeping Banner's health care costs to a minimum. Retail pharmacies are the most frequently visited health care provider and as such you are positioned to have a major impact on patient outcomes.

As a Retail Pharmacy Technician you will part of our Retail Pharmacy team at our Atrium location in North Colorado Medical Center. You will have the opportunity to make patient’s lives better by making healthcare easier. Atrium is an exciting, busy, fast paced environment with a lot of customer contact. You will initiate phone calls to patients, to physicians, to physician offices, and to insurance companies for our patients. You will also work the register, fill prescriptions, provide support to the team and provide amazing customer support. This is a full time, varied shift opportunity including rotating weekends and holidays. The shifts will be in 8 or 10 hour increments within the hours of 8:30am-7:00pm Monday-Friday and 9:00am-4:00pm Saturday and Sunday. Join us to be a part of this amazing team!

Banner is expanding its focus from being a hospital company to a clinical quality company focused on population health management. Clinical Pharmacy Services are also included in this robust new service line and are responsible for the management of the Banner formulary, development of standardized system wide clinical pharmacy services, and management of adverse drug event preventions. Clinical Pharmacy Services provides collaborative drug therapy management and educational interventions in patient care to optimize medication therapy, improve outcomes, promote wellness, and disease prevention.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will prepare, dispense, and compound medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient delivery of medication therapy. Provide excellent customer service skills, high attention to detail, strong problem solving, documentation and computer skills. Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support pharmaceutical care activities, complete pharmacy billing activities, record keeping, reporting, inventory management, and arrange appropriate medication delivery.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, review and interpret prescriptions.

2. Prepare and dispense appropriate amount of medication under supervision of a pharmacist. Deliver medications accurately to the patient.

3. Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and may communicate with patients in waiting area.

4. Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and assist with any other administrative duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists or senior technicians.

5. Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and perform other work assignments

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and/or may be in training for a technical/trades career.

Licensed and registered pharmacy technician in the state of practice, where applicable.

Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant work experience. Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required. Strong customer service focus, superior problem-solving abilities. Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred. Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile and hazardous drug compounding preferred. Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred. Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
