jones + co is a thoughtfully curated slow-living boutique located on east end pearl street with a focus on all things handmade, artisan-crafted, ethically-sourced, and sustainably made. we’re seeking a positive, creative, and enthusiastic retail operations leader to oversee day-to-day operations at our brick-and-mortar location in boulder, work remotely behind-the-scenes as needed, and operate as the “right-hand man” of our shop owner, elizabeth jones. the ideal candidate for this position thinks quickly on their feet and adapts easily to change, seeing the shop as their “second home”. in addition, they have a solid management background with experience in retail (bonus points for experience with sustainable retail or small business management), an eye for trends and visual marketing, a passion for customer service, and proficiency with most major social media platforms. this candidate would ultimately be responsible for leading and overseeing retail operations at the brick-and-mortar location, managing the jones + co team to increase sales, engaging with customers to provide outstanding service, helping manage the back-end of our online shop, and overall acting as the aide-de-camp for the shop owner.

responsibilities :

leading and overseeing retail operations generally.

developing excellent jones + co product range knowledge.

managing and motivating the jones + co team to increase sales and ensure efficiency.

engaging with customers to provide outstanding service and exceed expectations to improve customer loyalty, spend, and positive experience.

analyzing all aspects of current store operations to identify potential opportunities and putting forward recommendations for improvement.

leading and planning the daily tasks and operations in the store, ensuring the smooth operation of the store’s day-to-day (such as stock management, stock take, online orders fulfillment).

identifying trends and building strategy with the team to deliver our brand purpose to new and existing customers.

ensuring that the stores (both physical and online) are presentable and have the appropriate stock to respond to the business needs.

ensuring the visual merchandising at the brick + mortar shop is up to standard and supporting store teams with seasonal guidelines.

contributing to the effective organization of the shop behind-the-scenes, such as helping create schedules and store guidelines alongside elizabeth and keeping the stockroom tidy and organized.

working alongside the jones + co team to execute commercial and marketing objectives in stores, such as spearheading activities and events.

being the main point of contact with stylists, interior designers, potential collaborators, press, and bloggers coming to the store.

leading, training, and managing the retail staff.

reporting and communicating with shop owner elizabeth on a frequent basis.

using instagram, other social media tools, and squarespace as a tool for engaging our customers and aiding in our marketing.

required experience, qualifications, and skills :

solid management background with at least two years of store management experience in retail (preference for sustainable retail, lifestyle, or small business experience).

experience training team members in sales and customer service.

strong customer service and/or retail experience generally.

proficiency with social media, specifically instagram (will work closely with shop social media manager).

proficiency in technology to perform functions in our square dashboard pos system

proficiency with a mac, google docs, pages, and optionally keynote and canva. preference is given to candidates with some knowledge of squarespace.

skilled in customer service, visual maintenance, and inventory management.

proven awareness of our shop’s brand niche within the wider retail market

passionate about raising awareness for sustainable brands, artisan-made crafts, and thoughtful consumerism

target driven and result oriented.

organized, service-minded, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and able to adapt quickly to the changing needs of our customers, our team, our physical + digital shopfronts, and our show owner.
