Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapy Assistant is an equipment and inventory technician who cleans, monitors, and maintains all routine respiratory care equipment throughout the hospital, including medical oxygen supply. They must utilize technical clinical thinking for assisting therapists to meet the needs of patients. The Respiratory Therapy Assistant supports patient care and service by supporting the Respiratory Clinicians.

  • In this role, you will provide assistance to Respiratory Care Practitioners, as necessary, according to department policies and procedures.
  • You will assist in daily equipment processing of all respiratory equipment: Disassemble process, clean, assemble, and test all respiratory equipment according to department policies and procedures.
  • You will be responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining respiratory supplies/equipment within the Respiratory Care Department and to patient care areas, this includes rental equipment.
  • Your role maintains an adequate inventory of all oxygen gas cylinders in department storage areas and on all patient care areas.
  • You will process EKGs via the MUSE System.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED plus some training.
  • Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patients, guests, physicians and other employees.
  • Position requires accuracy in checking, posting, counting, performing technical procedures, and interpretation of instrumentation.
  • One year of previous work experience in a health care setting.
  • Current BLS certification recommended.
