Overview: Direct the research activities of the Shingo Institute in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University. Assist the Shingo Institute in its mission of “improving the process of improvement.” The term for this position is contingent upon funding and may be extended.Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Shingo Institute in its mission of “improving the process of improvement.”
  • Direct the research activities of the Shingo Institute, including, but not limited to:
    • Developing and facilitating the dissemination of practitioner-oriented research on best practices and state-of-the-art efforts in continuous improvement.
    • Utilizing the Shingo Institute’s Insight survey and data to identify and promote best practices.
    • Engaging with academic organizations to assist with the dissemination of academic research, and the application of research to curriculum.
    • Coordinating and promoting the research activities of Shingo Faculty Fellows.
  • Support the development of revenue streams of the Shingo Institute, including, but not limited to:
    • Education: Teach workshops, train and certify facilitators, and support the activities of the Shingo Licensed Affiliates.
    • Assessments: Assist in directing the assessment process. Serve as a Shingo examiner.
    • Events: Speak at Shingo conferences and other similar events, support study tours, present podcasts and webinars, etc.
  • Teach classes in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in related field required, PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years industry experience in operational excellence and Lean continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with the Shingo Prize and Shingo Model™ required. Shingo Prize examiner, facilitator, and/or alumni preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare administration preferred but not required.
