Position SummaryThis individual will support the Fluid Biomarker Core associated with the Knight Alzheimer Disease Research Center. The position will assist with technical aspects of complex clinical studies.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, administrative support, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
  • Performs data entry, maintains databases and datasets, and performs data retrieval.
  • P rocesses and aliquots biological fluids.
  • D istributes biological fluid samples and compiled paperwork to investigators, referral labs and internal/external collaborators.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists other technical staff with experiments.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Task-oriented and well-versed in data entry procedures.
  • Ability to work with numbers and datasets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
  • Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
  • Working knowledge of computer software (Excel) and general lab equipment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years.

Salary Range$15.61 - $24.39 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
