This is a two-year fixed term position. Research Director, Golub Capital Social Impact Lab Stanford Graduate School of Business Residing in Silicon Valley, the heart of innovation, Stanford GSB has built a global reputation based on its immersive and innovative management programs. The Golub Capital Social Impact Lab (Lab) is a new initiative within the GSB. The Lab uses digital technology and social science research to improve the effectiveness of social sector organizations. The lab is a research initiative of affiliated academics, staff, researchers and students who are passionate about conducting research that guides and improves the process of innovation. We collaborate with a wide range of organizations, from large firms to smaller startups, for-profits to nonprofits, and NGOs to governments, to conduct research. Then, we apply and disseminate our insights to achieve social impact at large scale. The Lab’s research falls into three main areas: (i) research to identify specific problems and associated potential technology solutions; (ii) general purpose research on methods, processes, and practices that support the development of technologies such as digital education, worker training, nudges, and information provision; and (iii) research on innovative approaches to subsidize and incentivize the development and scaling of technical solutions, including paying for outcomes, advance market commitments, social impact bonds, social impact venture capital, prizes, and milestone payments. Reporting to the Lab Director and the Faculty Director, the Research Director, Golub Capital Social Impact Lab, will lead and oversee research related to the mission of the Lab and ensure the research is disseminated widely to both academic and general audiences. This includes defining, prioritizing, and managing research projects; recruiting faculty, students and writers to contribute to the research agenda; managing and carrying out the research; writing, presenting and publicizing research and related thought leadership; supporting the writing of grant proposals around research projects and all organizational duties associated with achieving these objectives.
