General Summary/Purpose:
The Johns Hopkins Kidney Precision Medicine Center of Excellence (Kidney PMCoE) seeks to hire a Research Data Analyst to help oversee and assist with data collection, management, and analysis in collaboration with faculty within the Division of Nephrology and the Departments of Medicine, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics.
The ideal candidate for this position will have outstanding programming and organizational skills and the ability to learn and apply statistical algorithms to a range of large datasets, as well as a strong interest in collaborative epidemiologic and biostatistics research. A strong computing and mathematical background and the ability to learn new techniques rapidly incorporating innovative methods is a high priority. Data structuring skills are extremely important.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Defining and maintaining an efficient computing and data environment which facilitates collaboration and secure access by a multidisciplinary team of faculty, staff, and trainees;
Database creation and management including data checking and cleaning, creation and maintenance of data dictionaries for datasets, merging data, creating and recoding variables to prepare data for analyses
Integration of large cohort and biobank datasets, including -omic data (genomics, epigenetics, proteomics, metabolomics);
Produce tables and graphs in publication-quality form, & present results to senior investigators;
Serves as a quality control checkpoint person for data collected and analyses;
Assisting in the interpretation and writing of statistical results for manuscripts and other reports;
Active collaboration with investigators to design analyses of study data for papers, grants, and presentations;
Collaboration with statisticians regarding study designs and analyses;
Participation in regular seminars and meetings of investigators; and
Performs multiple tasks and other functions outside the scope of this position.
Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):
Bachelor's degree in related discipline
Three years of related experience required.
Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for some required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula***.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Fluency in the use of R, STATA, and/or SAS
MS Access, Excel, Word
Experience in statistical analysis, database management & data analysis including longitudinal analysis.
Experience using SQL, desired
***JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
