Research Associate - Reagan Lab

Position Summary
The Reagan lab is looking for someone with the following (not all are needed to be successful):
- Experience and education in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines
- Experience with a broad range of molecular biology and analytical techniques (nucleic acid extraction and quality control, PCR, real-time PCR, primer design, gene cloning, western blot, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry)
- Experience working with mice in a research setting (ideally)
- Hands-on experience with in vitro and in vivo cancer models, signal transduction, cancer drug treatment and processing of biological specimens.
- Knowledge of different Next Generation Sequencing platforms (DNA and RNA Sequencing, targeted DNA and RNASeq, amplicon-based sequencing, ChIP-Seq, Single cell sequencing and or other NGS assays)
- Well versed in applying and using software programs and ability to multitask.
- Knowledge of cancer biology, obesity, adipocytes, bone biology, or drugs action mechanisms (ideally).
- Deep understanding of the statistical methods commonly used in basic science. Demonstrated experience applying statistical approaches to deliver analysis results.
- Experience writing and publishing manuscripts or grants, working with clinicians, or working with clinical samples.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Written and oral communication skills.
- A passion for science and a drive to make a real impact with their career.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with different types of people (eg. computational biologists, bioinformaticians, collaborators, etc) to communicate and discuss results.
Conducts a variety of complex laboratory procedures and is able to conduct independent research in consultation with the principal investigator. The research associate has a sufficient level of experience, expertise and independence to conduct a defined research project with overall responsibility for its inception, implementation and completion with reporting of results in a peer reviewed forum. Position availability is directly related to grant funding.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Master's degree in relevant field.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: 6+ years of relevant experience with Master's degree.
- Demonstrated ability above that of the Research Associate II.
- Communication skills that are sufficiently developed that the individual at this level will be able to present research results at regional and national research conferences.
- Visual acuity, manual dexterity, math skills and a scientific acumen are required.
Candidates with less than the required experience will be considered.
