This position is at the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC), which engages in quality improvement, applied health services and population health research in a project-based, team setting. The Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center’s mission is to identify, research, and spread innovative practices to improve access to quality healthcare for all Ohioans through partnerships with healthcare, state, and academic leaders. The GRC’s current work encompasses critical issues and challenges in public health and health services, including the COVID-19 pandemic, maternal and infant mortality, the ongoing opioid crisis, Ohio’s ACA Medicaid expansion, management of chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, health equity, and health system payment innovation. The candidate for this position will focus on statistical programming, interactive visualizations, and applied statistical methodology. Typical responsibilities are project-specific and may include combinations of the following: cleaning and processing data for analysis; conducting diagnostic analyses for data quality assurance; creating data documentation and metadata; creating analytic datasets from a variety of sources; performing data linkages; assisting with the development of measures from complex, multidimensional data sources; monitoring the quality of field data collection; computing summaries and descriptive statistics; conducting inferential statistical analyses; summarizing results in tabular and graphical outputs; conducting semi-structured interviews and qualitative analyses of primary and secondary data; identifying and learning novel and improved practices for data management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting; composing reports, whitepapers, and presentation materials; assisting with the presentation of results to project sponsors and other audiences; developing interactive visualizations and dashboards; and providing technical assistance for statistical programming, research design, and interpretation of results.

Experience and Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Proficiency in a statistical programming language (e.g. R)

Preferred:

  • Experience in applied health services or population health research
  • Experience writing code for reproducible and efficient workflows
  • Experience developing interactive visualizations using R-Shiny
