Rental Housing Inspector
Employment Type : Full-Time
Candidates must have a high school diploma, a valid Michigan Driver's license and at least 2 years of relevant experience. Specialized experience and training in code enforcement in a municipal environment is preferred. Excellent organizational and communication skills are also required. Individuals must be self-motivated and able to work well with the public. Typical responsibilities include:- Perform physical inspections of rental housing units
- Enforce city housing, property maintenance, rental and vacant property registration ordinances
- Interact with residents, property owners, and business owners to investigate complaints and ensure compliance with all city ordinances
- Issue citations as needed
- Participate in court hearings as needed
- Assist supervisor as needed
- Maintain excellent client relations
- Maintain a safe working environment
In addition, all inspectors providing such Rental Inspection services for the firm must possess the following qualifications and submit evidence of qualifications with Qualifications Proposal:- A minimum of five (5) years in governmental property maintenance code enforcement; or
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in residential, or rental housing inspections;
And one or more of the following certifications:- Uniform Physical Condition Standards (UPCS) Inspections
- International Code Council - Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector
- National Association of Home Inspectors
- American Society of Home Inspectors
