Overview
The STC Center of Expertise in Remote Sensing seeks to meet the growing demand for innovative information systems that fully exploit and develop data products for a new cloud and Imagery sensor. STC desires to add a Remote sensing and/or Imagery Scientist to its team to strengthen its research and development of Cloud and Atmospheric product application in weather decision-making systems.
We desire candidates to cite any relevant cloud computing applications experience.
Responsibilities
Specific duties will include:
- Assist in the leadership of the data processing for cloud and Imagery products from a new Imaging and cloud satellite
- Work with other team members on algorithm development of the raw data to product level data
- Collaboratively engage in exploratory research and data analysis to transition products from research to operations, including support for pre and post launch calibration and validation
- Support the systems engineer in initial and final operational capability architectures.
- Identify and evaluate system and user requirements, verify new product solutions, and provide expertise to stakeholders on product usage
- Write research manuscripts, user-guides, and technical documentation
- Generate visualizations to illustrate results: graphs, maps, diagrams
- Frequently present to team members, and customer leadership
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Strong computation skills in IDL, or Python on Linux platform
- Experience working on remote sensing technology and data products
- Demonstrated quantitative skill in areas such as, numerical methods, radiative transfer, and pattern recognition
- Exceptional analytical, logical and problem-solving skills; written and verbal communication skills
Education and Experience:
- Advanced degree in computer science, atmospheric science, and /or engineering or science discipline is preferred; with 2-5 years of industry experience or a postdoc
