POSITION SUMMARY
Under direct supervision of a Clinical Program Manager, provide supportive and educational services to clients and residents. Must be available often throughout the month for 24-hour care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with outings, activities, and transportation as needed
- Provide support and direct care to clients in a 24-hour transitional housing setting
- Monitor client self-administration of medication as necessary
- Implement treatment plan as developed
- Cleaning which requires squatting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and so forth.
- Prepare meals and encourage clients to participate.
- Arrive on time and participate in all required agency meetings and trainings.
- Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with staff and supervisor.
- Treat coworkers, clients and community contacts with respect and professionalism utilizing acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, cultural and spiritual practices
- Constantly assess and make recommendations to increase the safety of clients and staff.
- Report problems with safety to supervisor, MHP on call or 911 as needed.
- Must be able to attend to clients for a period of at least 6-8 hours at a time
- Provide positive role modeling and supportive counseling.
- Comply with applicable state and federal laws, rules and agency standards
- Complete detail-oriented paperwork in a timely fashion consistent with agency policy and the direction of Program Manager; exercises discretion and maintain client and employee confidentiality
- Adhere to laws pertaining to mental health services and consumer rights.
- Provide independent living skills training, i.e. cooking, cleanup, food preparation, safe handling and storage, hygiene and laundry and shopping; assure that the residence remains clean and orderly during shift.
- Facilitate ongoing use of existing accountability systems and methods with clients consistently
- Assure safety of residents and clients
- Assists in the provision of services described in the adult’s individual treatment plan, if substituting at a residential facility, to include one-on-one supervision, vocational assistance, socialization skills, activities of daily living, emotional regulation and practice of other treatment skills and concepts, role performance, work-readiness and community integration/community living skills using knowledge of crisis interventions, communication, and cognitive behavioral interventions
- Provide appropriate interventions to clients utilizing evidenced-based practices and maintaining unconditional positive regard
- Assist in the development of the crisis stabilization treatment plan.
- Monitor signs and symptoms of illness and progress toward recovery.
- Monitor and report side effects from medications and vital signs to medical personnel.
- Document consumer status and services provided.
- Assist nursing and medical staff
- Perform other necessary duties of the detoxification unit, including patient pickup or transport to and from the hospital
- Answer incoming telephone calls, ascertain purpose of call, and route call to relevant staff or to voice mail
- Assist in preparation of detox meals as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent, Associates of Arts Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred
- One year of progressively responsible work experience in a mental health setting preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), First Aid, CPR training provided.
- Ability to pass background check and driver’s license check upon offer of employment.
- Provide proof of auto liability insurance coverage per Western’s policies.
- Current valid Driver’s License with good driving record if required to transport clients while on work
