Welcome To About the Job Johnson 3 is a 30?bed medical, respiratory, geriatric and medical telemetry unit. Johnson 3 has the capacity for eight telemetry patients. The average patient days is 814 with a monthly average admission rate of 191 patients. There are eighteen private rooms and 6 two-bed rooms. There is one negative pressure isolation room. Additionally, the windows and are secured for patients on suicide precautions. All rooms have sufficient oxygen and suction outlets. There is also a call light and intercom system to provide for communication of patient needs. Services provided by the staff of Johnson 3 include, patient education (including, diabetic teaching, respiratory care, discharge planning instructions), care of the patient with self limiting and chronic conditions. Patient Population Johnson 3 generally accepts patients 18 years of age or older with stable cardiac and medical conditions. Patients are admitted from a number of services including cardiology, internal medicine, family practice, pulmonary medicine, infectious disease and general surgery. Common Medical Diagnoses . Pneumonia .COPD . Known stable cardiac arrhythmia . Cerebral vascular accident/ r/o TIA . Heart failure . Renal failure . Self care deficit Each patient has a Registered Nurse (RN) who is assisted by a Clinical Assistant. The nurse?to?patient ratio ranges from 1:5 to 1:6 depending upon shift and patient acuity. There is an identified Charge Nurse for each shift. The Charge Nurse determines the amount of staff required on a given shift based on patient needs.
