Work Hours/Shift:
Full Time Day Shift
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Demonstrates clinical competence in relevant areas of surgery with regards to scheduled procedures
- Basic hand-on computer knowledge: MS office, word, Excel preferred working knowledge of Cerner
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and follows policies, rule and procedures by providing courteous service, assisting lost guest and problem solving to meet special needs or requests.
- Performs duties in a timely manner and provides updates if delays occur.
- Communicates with courtesy when interacting with internal or external customers, in person or on the telephone. Prioritizes work through utilization of resource lists.
- Assists the Operating room staff in preparing the O.R. suite for surgery by assisting in instruments and equipment preparation.
- Assures case carts are accurately pulled with supplies/instrumentation and edits procedures cards as needed for any corrections
- Observes and reports to the professional nurse pertinent observations, regarding sterile technique
- Assists in providing a safe, clean and comfortable environment for patients.
- Demonstrates initiative by performing other functions such as cleaning the room, including the floor, between surgeries.
- Responsible for watching and protecting sterile items and for staying in the assigned sterile area and keeping unsterile people and unsterile objects from contaminating sterile area or self.
- Assist OR charge to trouble shoot equipment in OR’s as requested
- Assist the Clinical Charge Nurse in managing the day-to-day clinical operations on the unit in collaboration with the OR manager
- Work closely with materials/scheduling/SPD/OR to assure physician requested items are here and ready the DOS and for future request
- Participates and assists in the new employee orientation, on the job training, in-service education and or facility quality assurance programs when needed.
- Responds to problem calls from Surgery during and after regular business hours as needed.
- Transports sterilized instrumentation to the service technicians in the O.R. area as needed.
- Collects and transports appropriate instruments to the designated cleaning area as needed.
- Process and cleans all equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions for use including the use of protective equipment.
- Places instrumentation in appropriate containers. Ensures all instruments are properly arranged in instrument trays and have no broken insulation or damaged operational parts.
- Verifies that required instrumentation has been sterilized and is available for next-day, call or weekend cases.
- Provides/participates in orientation and training of employees to work routines and environment
- Reports broken instrumentation to immediate supervisor or manager.
- Shares knowledge with co-workers through open communication and continuous upgrading of skills.
- Works with team leaders and service coordinators to keep set list current as needed.
- Follows chain of command within hospital regarding problems or issues to ensure proper communication and resolution.
- Completes documentation as required for services applicable.
- Serve as charge nurse as needed.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
- Registered Nurse with 1 year of experience in the Operating Room/Surgical Services
- ASN/BSN
- Current registration with Florida State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement.
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- PALS required
- NIHSS from Know Stroke (NIHSS from American Heart Association will be accepted upon hire, subsequent renewals must be completed through Know Stroke)
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator of Surgery and SPD the RN Coordinator will use their knowledge and assessment of the individual patient and procedure, the technician anticipates the needs of the surgeon and provides this service while maintaining a safe environment. Represents the Department of Nursing in a professional and courteous manner. This individual will often coordinate his/her work to meet the ever-changing needs of the department/hospital. Day-to-day responsibilities require good use of judgment regarding timely and appropriate communication with the hospital staff, patients and visitors. Recognizes the need for teamwork and functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
This position oversees the coordination of equipment, supplies and implants for the delivery of care to our surgical patients. Will work closely with our surgeons/teams to coordinate request for procedures scheduled. This position is responsible for reviewing and revising preferences cards, working with scheduling/OR clinical coordinators for ensuring all equipment is ordered timely and available. Will work with vendors on new products and collect information for evaluations in coordination with our surgical educator and acting as a liaison between the departments for driving physician satisfaction in our unit
This job role will be responsible for assisting in projects and process improvement initiatives in compliance with contractual obligations. Promotes customer service/satisfaction through training, education and resolution of staff and physicians.
