POSITION TITLE: Registered Nurse The Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers in the state of Colorado to disclose the following information. Hourly (salary) minimum $27.00, hourly (salary) maximum $36.68. The base hourly (salary) range above represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual hourly (salary) rates may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to: experience, education, and training. JOB PURPOSE: To improve the health and wellbeing of our communities. BASIC FUNCTION: The Registered Nurse is responsible to the Emergency Department Director, and provides care, treatment, counseling, and health education to ED patients. Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients in the emergency room. Triages each patient and determines priority of care based on physical, psychological, and social needs. Records patient histories, performs various diagnostic tests, administers medications, and develops patient care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals. Assists physicians during examinations and emergency procedures, operating and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. Observes patients’ progress, records observations in patient medical record, and updates attending physician directly when necessary. The RN assists in the maintenance of health and the prevention or management of illness, injury and disability. The RN works as part of a health care team. Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Prefer one year of professional nursing experience in a patient care setting. Must be at least 18 years of age. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice and ability to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of District policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, both written and on computer, and responding to correspondence. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, co-workers and the public. Ability to maintain performance improvement and quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to communicate clearly. Must be proficient within six (6) months of hire in Network, MS Office, Kronos, HealthStream, Carescripts, Allscripts EHR, Meditech, Galactica, QHN, MUSE, and Spacelabs. WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions. Potential for exposure to routine communicable diseases and biohazardous waste is common. This position performs tasks that involve Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, body fluids or tissues. Exposure to patients’ conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells and diseases are common. Frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards. May experience traumatic situations including psychiatric, dismembered and deceased patients. BASE SALARY- Starting hourly pay range is $$ to $$, dependent on relevant experience and qualifications. This PRN position includes a PRN differential of 10% in addition to the starting hourly base rate of pay. This position is not bonus eligible. Pay is just one component to prospective employees’ compensation package. Compensation also includes a 10% PRN differential and may include shift differentials. In addition, Grand River Hospital District offers benefits including employee assistant programs and paid sick time.
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing. Active license in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse. A temporary permit issued by the Board of Nursing will be accepted until a permanent license is received if awaiting reciprocity. Must have current BLS card upon hire. ACLS, PALS or ENPC & TNCC certifications are required within 6 months of initial employment and must maintain current certification status throughout GRHD employment.
