POSITION SUMMARY: The Regional Resource Nurse is an authority in clinical systems assessment and improvement, supports the Director of Nursing (DON), or as the Interim DON, in developing independent leadership practice, survey management and 5-Star performance. In this role, the Regional Resource Nurse supports the DON in developing plans for center excellence, assists with nursing practice to determine compliance with the company's evidence-based practice standards and protocols, state nurse practice acts and federal regulations as appropriate. The level of support provided to a Center will be based on the Assistant Chief Clinical Officer (ACCO) and/or Vice President of Operations (VPO) assessment of a Centers need.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Assists with the implementation of a Center’s Quality Assurance Process Improvement (QAPI) to assure quality, safety and efficiency in clinical outcomes;
  • In collaboration with the ACCO and VPO, provides appropriate level of support according to center needs
  • At the request of Center leaders and/or Center support team members, develop and establish succession action plans.
  • Assists with state and other federal requirements which may include but is not limited to survey management during annual, complaint and/or revisit surveys
  • Assists and collaborates with DON or as the DON in which each nursing team member practices to the top of her/his license, certification and/or skill set and role.
  • Models and coaches trusting, collaborative relationships between and with staff, peers, other disciplines/professionals, and ancillary services.
  • Assist with effective recruitment for qualified staff, interview processes, hiring, on-boarding, and orientation for all nursing team members.
  • Supports to create an environment that recognizes and values diversity.
  • Supports and collaborates with the Director of Staff Development (DSD) or Infection Preventionist (IP) and MDS Nurse to assure her/his effective, ongoing development of nursing practice and engagement, Infection Control Practices/Antibiotic Stewardship, MDS Accuracy, Risk Mitigation for safe, efficient and cost-effective care through education, training and frontline coaching and development of education and improvement plan for Center.
  • Assist with engaging in conflict resolution and performance coaching when needed to mitigate workforce performance issues.
  • In collaboration as the DON or with the DON, DSD or IP Nurse and inter professional team members, ensures the implementation of and consistent application of standardized clinical programs, practices, policies and procedures that enhance the quality of patient care.
  • Monitors clinical outcomes to identify trends, successful practices, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborates with DON or as the DON on development, implementation, and evaluation of the Center’s clinical QAPI process.
  • Collaborates with DON or as the DON on development, implementation, and evaluation of Centers Clinical Strategic plan
  • Assist DON or as the DON in development, implementation, and evaluation of an effective professional practice model to meet the needs of diverse patient populations; recommends improvements.
  • Assists DON or as the DON implementation and evaluation of the optimal nursing team workforce/staffing model to meet the nursing needs of the patients and to assure high quality, efficient, cost-effective care, value based purchasing
  • Assist and coach in the organization and leadership of effective clinical meetings, rounds, shift to shift communication and huddles to assure effective patient/resident outcomes.
  • Provides input for performance reviews, and promotions based on the accomplishment of established standards that promote adherence to compliance and quality.
  • Provides service recovery directly when needed and directs/coaches team members in service recovery for dissatisfied customers.
  • Promotes, fosters, and encourages team members in professional relationship development with community, regulators/surveyors, payors, and referral sources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. RN certification required.

2. At least 3 years experience in a long term care facility.

3. Knowledge and experience of long term care required.

4. Must be able to travel

5. This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.

6. Previous experience utilizing healthcare clinical and patient care software applications (e.g. Point Click Care, American Health Tech)
