Our Clinical Services team offers multidisciplinary evaluation, personalized treatment and innovative programs (at CHC) to increase every youngster’s ability to learn and achieve the balance necessary to enhance life experience and improve school performance. The clinic serves children and young adults.

With our Clinical Services multiple partnerships with Stanford University Behavioral Health department, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside some of the top mental health professionals in Silicon Valley.

RWP is a collaborative of community organizations in East Palo Alto and east Menlo Park working together to increase capacity and create equitable access to mental health support for Ravenswood youth. It was formed in 2018 to systematically identify the mental health needs of youth in the Ravenswood community and imagine an integrated solution. Project partners include CHC (Children’s Health Council), Ravenswood City School District, CASSY, One East Palo Alto, Stanford, San Mateo County Health, Ravenswood Education Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula, Child Mind Institute, The Primary School, Ravenswood Family Health Center, California Children’s Trust.

As a Family partner, you will provide peer support to caregivers to help engage families in positive relationships with emotional/mental/behavioral health treatments. As an intermediary between clinical and community services, Family Partners relay information to families that will enable and empower them to make informed decisions regarding their child's mental health treatment. As the Ravenswood Wellness Partnership (RWP) community family partner, you are the bridge that connects families with the proper mental/behavioral health services they need. Reporting principally to the Chief Clinical Officer, you will also work closely with our Ravenswood Mental Health Services Coordinator and other Community Clinician(s). Additionally, you will also work alongside community partners doing work on the ground in Ravenswood to support the mental health of students at the Ravenswood City School District and beyond. Working closely with our internal leadership team at CHC and communicating with our RWP partner organizations, you’ll act as a liaison to ensure our mental health system coordination progresses toward our partnership goal of increasing capacity and access to youth mental health services in the Ravenswood community.

Responsibilities

  • Build rapport with members of the community in need (caregivers, youth, adolescents i.e.)
  • Collaborate with community organizations to coordinate family service opportunities and raise awareness towards mental/behavioral health assistance programs
  • Conduct one-on-one sessions with caregivers and youth to assist them in developing culturally relevant youth treatment plans, recovery strategies and community resources.
  • Serve as a liaison between school leadership, clinicians, families by interpreting/relaying community needs to professional staff members and vice-versa
  • Work in partnership with OEPA, BHRS, and BGCP organizations to facilitate the hiring, training and deployment of family partners to support nontraditional mental health services
  • Facilitate focus groups with students, caregivers, and school teachers/staff to solicit input on the evolving mental health needs for kids in the community
  • Be knowledgeable of a wide-array of culturally-relevant social and community resources and connect individuals to these resources.
  • Maintain an organized caseload of caregivers and/or youth and manage a fluctuating workload
  • Perform clerical support work with accuracy, speed, and minimal supervision (updating records, writing emails, establishing reports, etc.)
  • Continuously evaluate what’s working and what’s not; share/communicate findings with RWP partners to reinforce best practices and seek collective support in making programmatic improvements when necessary
  • Work with Children’s Health Council (CHC) and the Internal Team spearheaded Chief Clinical Officer Ramsey Khasho
  • Participates in team meetings, intake meetings, staff meetings, and other presentations as appropriate.
  • Attends community trainings; workgroups, planning committees and task forces related to children's mental health issues


Qualifications:

  • Mental First Aid Health Training (either have or be prepared to take)
  • Certification of Mental Health Peer Support Providers through SMC
  • Bilingual/bicultural – English / Spanish required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Growth mindset and openness to continuous improvement
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of behavioral health services is very desirable
  • Ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude with families when building relationships
  • Presence/roots in the Ravenswood community a huge plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education, business or health-related fields is preferred. Master’s degree is a plus (5 years of relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • Experience working in team dynamics and comfortable maintaining dialog with multiple agencies is desired
  • Customer service-oriented experience (retail, doctor’s office, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience working with youth of complex needs and knowledge of public mental health services, child welfare, and school system is a plus.
