We have immediate openings for Railcar Unloaders to join our team at our Grand Forks, NDfacility. Ideal candidates will be team-players with a positive, can-do attitude and who love manufacturing.

Our shifts are 12 hours from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am with 4 days one week and three days the next with every other weekend a 3-day weekend.

Job Summary: The railcar unloader is responsible for duties that involve unloading bulk containers of raw materials and ensuring safe deposit into the silo. Properly prepares each railcar and ensures that connections are performed correctly. Assures that inventory is stored in a clean, efficient manner. Verifies the flow path of the raw material by a visual check, checks appearance of the product for inconstancies. Other duties include housekeeping and sanitation of the railcar unloading area and overall maintenance of the ingredient area in an orderly manner. Activities are performed at a rapid pace and require contact with fellow workers and drivers. The railcar unloader role will require collaboration skills with other department to help maintain the highest level of sanitation and food safety readiness as well as adherence to the strictest standards of health, safety and hygiene

Essential Functions

  • Unloads bulk material from railcars and ensures safe transfer of product into silo.
  • Prepares railcar unloading area for safe and sanitary transfer of product.
  • Attach pressurizing hoses and unloading hoses to the railcar.
  • Monitors flow of product from railcar silo.
  • Regulates/adjusts flow of product from the railcar to silo as needed.
  • Loosens/adjusts valves and opens hatches, including top hatches on the railcar.
  • Ensures compliance with all food safety policies and procedures. Ensures railcar unloading area is in proper sanitary condition at all times.
  • Evaluates product conditions visually and checks for inconsistencies and reports such when identified.
  • Immediately reports product inconsistencies
  • Completes cleaning assignments as required in the railcar unloading area, silo, sifter room and blower room.
  • Maintains the ingredient area in an orderly manner.
  • Completes all paperwork and checklists as required.
  • Ability to work from, or on railcar and other equipment at heights.
  • Ability to competently operate motorized and static equipment used in the cleaning task

Essential Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 80 pounds on a regular basis and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • A minimum of 2 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Must successfully pass the Respirator Fit Testing
  • Basic experience and familiarity with computers a plus.
  • Familiarity with GMP, SOP, SSOP, FDA, traceability and OSHA standards are desired.
  • Experience in operating a man lift, pallet jack, boom lift and forklift a plus.
  • Must be able to work in hot and humid environments on a regular basis and work in cold, outdoor environments seasonally.
  • Prompt and regular attendance required.
  • Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and time management skills needed.

Hourly rate is $17.52.
