Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of Amentum is currently seeking a Radiological Control Technician to join our Operations team located in Carlsbad, NM.

Radiological Control Technicians at WIPP are responsible for providing radiological support activities related to radiation safety, radiation measurement, radioactive material handling, and implementation of the Radiation Protection Program assuring safe and compliant radiation protection per Radiological Control's policies and procedures. The successful candidate will perform routine and complex radiological surveys, sample collection, and analysis (radiation contamination, and airborne radioactive) of facility, construction areas, and other work areas and generate associated documents and reports. Perform release surveys of materials, equipment, and property from areas controlled for radiological purposes to uncontrolled areas. Evaluate radiological conditions within the facility and work locations to support the development of radiation work permits, work plans, survey plans, and waste management activities (technical work documents). Post/label areas and items controlled for radiological purposes. Conduct and/or support assessments, audits, investigations, and other measures needed regarding radiological corrective actions and incidents/emergencies. Respond to contaminated personnel/areas and other radiological incidents and emergencies. Assist in the planning of radiological work activities. Provide radiological support during preparation, packaging, shipment/transfer, or receipt of radioactive materials. Provide job coverage for work groups. Provide briefings and guidance to radiological workers to minimize exposure to radioactive material. Use of a respirator is required, must be able to pass a pulmonary function test.

This is a USW Bargaining Unit Position.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of a competency test in mathematics (algebra) and physical sciences (chemistry and physics) is required.
  • Ability to pass a pulmonary function test is required.
  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US citizens.

Preferred Requirements:

  • WIPP Project experience is desired.
  • One(1) year nuclear operations experience is preferred.
