Job Description: Radio Communications Service Technician / RF Technician
The Service Technician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and programming wireless communication equipment such as 2-way radios, transmitters, receivers, and antennas for customers.
Responsibilities Include:
- Be able to repair portable, mobile, and repeaters at board and component level
- Process warranty equipment as a Motorola service center
- Tune duplexers and test/verify proper operation with repeaters
- Design, create and update code plugs
- Build and repair RF cables for inventory and rentals
- Create interface cables for vendor products, i.e., Zetron, Motorola, Kenwood, etc.
- Provide field service and support for various repeater systems
- Support for Coast Guard NAIS system
- After hours on-call support
- Repeater and BDA system installs
- Mobile system installs including GPS
- Surveys to evaluate current systems and provide solutions
- Hospital support of Medcom system
- Onsite programming and system updates
- Out of state and country travel for surveys, service, installation, and upgrades
- Design, setup and test new equipment for functionality and determine the capability of the equipment
- Engineering and design of DAS for 800MHz BDA systems
- Provide consultation for sales product, and capabilities
- Revision of quotes and equipment for a successful execution of purposed solutions
- Assist sales with the programming of customer equipment
- Onsite meetings with sales reps for support
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of technical experience a plus
- The ability to juggle and follow through on multiple projects simultaneously
- The knack of remaining cool under pressure or deadlines
- The ability to problem solve issues that come up suddenly
- Team player and able to follow instructions
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year College or vocational school in electronics and wireless system repair is preferred but not required
- Must be technically savvy
- Does not mind repetitive work
- Focused and detail-oriented

- Maintaining cleanliness and maintenance of any company vehicle
- Filling out and completing time sheets, job tickets, data entry
- Retrieving parts from warehouse for repairs and maintenance
- Lifting boxes, tools, computers, service monitors, and other shop equipment
- Have a reliable vehicle
- Be drug-free
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- **Clean Driving Record is required ** (Major infractions are a disqualifier. ex: DUI, any drug motor vehicle offense, hit & run, reckless driving infractions, driving while suspended, etc.)
