Quantitative Risk Analyst
About the Position
The Quantitative Risk Analyst will perform leading-edge analysis and support advanced modeling efforts on the Financial Risk Management team within the Finance Department. This position is also responsible for related reporting of LGFCU Finance Department. In addition, the analyst will provide modeling, data analysis and reporting to support Civic FCU’s business/operational needs.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance current quantitative models including the Credit Risk Model, Economic Capital Model, Financial Forecast Model and other secondary models (including SAS, databases and spreadsheets).
- Conduct research and data analysis/preparation to support ongoing and planned modeling projects, including econometric modeling of credit risk, survival model for credit loss estimation, prepayment modeling etc.
- Perform analysis to actively monitor the underlying drivers of financial risk exposure change (with a focus on credit risk), balance sheet trends, market factors and financial risk sensitivity position.
- Enhance economic capital framework and develop capital stress testing to support capital management strategies based on risk exposures and economic environment.
- Support the enhancement of economic value and profitability measurement including FTP, RAROC and economic earnings and provide such reporting on a regular basis to support balance sheet strategy and decision making.
- Support the data liaison responsibilities of FRM team from both LGFCU and Civic FCU; Assist ALM modeling and analysis.
- Production and ongoing delivery of financial risk related reporting for Board, ALMC and related sub-committee requirements for both LGFCU and Civic FCU, as well as external reporting materials to support requirements of credit union regulators, accounting firms and any other authoritative bodies.
- Support documentation effort of all work processes, methodologies, models and solutions related to quantitative risk modeling and analysis.
Job Qualifications
Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in finance, economics, business, mathematics, statistics, or engineering.
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in finance.
- Strong quantitative, financial and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong PC proficiency including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
- Ability to function in a commercial business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).

- Possession or work towards advanced degrees in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering or related quantitative fields.
- Possession or progress towards Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation.
- Experience with statistical analysis and understanding of statistical modeling techniques.
- Experience with database, data analysis and statistical tools such as SAS and Python.
- Ability to work independently yet collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, projects and relationships simultaneously.
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and a positive attitude under pressure.
