POSITION: Quality Technician

REPORTS TO: Quality Supervisor

STATUS: Hourly, Non-Exempt

SHIFT: 1st, 2nd or 3rd

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Technician will serve at the direction of the Quality Supervisor. Quality Technicians ensure that all company products meet internal and external quality standards before they go to market. This is accomplished by adopting a “patrol based” strategy of finding and resolving quality issues on the manufacturing shop floor.

RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS

  • Take direction from the Quality Supervisor.
  • Always exercise open line of communication with Plant Manager, Production Leads and Operators utilizing a “team first” approach.
  • Discover errors and escalate situations to the Quality Supervisor and Production Leads when processes need to be halted until corrective measures are taken.
  • Draft Corrective Action Requests as needed.
  • Draft Quality Alerts perform training as needed.
  • Review and report on major quality issues including shop floor problems during Town Hall meetings
  • Monitor internal production/inspection processes and ensure manufacturing is performing routine inspections correctly in a timely manner.
  • Be present during production line changeovers and verify product/process is correct.
  • Spend 80% of time (on average) walking the shop floor and looking for potential errors
  • Spend 20% of time (on average) logging data, generating supporting documentation of findings.
  • Stay engaged with Manufacturing. Ask questions. Always ask “why”.
  • Present statistically relevant data and facts to communicate and escalate issues and risks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A minimum of a two-year technical degree, or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing setting.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in Manufacturing or Quality.
  • SAP software experience is preferred.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will be in a manufacturing environment. Applicant may be required to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires significant walking with some office environment. Excellent vision, hearing, speech and motor skills are required to perform essential functions of the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.50 - $22.75 per hour
