Quality Technician I/II/III

ROLE DESCRIPTION/FOCUS/OBJECTIVES:
This position is a key contributor of the Bayport Window Manufacturing Quality Support Team. The focus is on executing daily Quality Control Activities which in turn support the entire Manufacturing Operations Team to achieve the delivery and cost targets.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform Finished Product Audits of assembly lines then communicate results to production line employees elevating to leadership as appropriate.
- Verify Quality Control standards are followed. Ensure measurement equipment is being used by properly by operators to verify process results. Identify & implement improvement opportunities to reduce measurement error.
- Communicate, document, and help train operators on quality requirements.
- Perform daily review of processes to ensure processes are operating within defined ranges, verify measurement data/routines and reactions to checked data meet standards
- Lead containment of non-conforming material. Gather information to initiate Corrective Actions requests for supplied or fabricated parts and assist in 5 Why / 4 Step Problem Solving to address.
- Work with metrology department to get gauges/measurement devices cycled thru the calibration process
- Define and implement robust process controls/error proofing solutions that ensure product conforms to specification and performance standards
- 80%+ of time spent in production areas
SKILLS / CERTIFICATIONS:
- PC Skills - experience entering quality data into QC Gage/SPC system and usage of XYZ Tables/Measurement Equipment
- Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word for data entry and editing of documentation for shop floor
- Use of 5 Why and other Problem-Solving techniques
- Knowledge of Window Quality specifications preferred
- Able to lookup drawings and specifications with ability to interpret required measurements from dimensioned prints
- Experienced Trainer using AMS training techniques (e.g. Tell Show Do Review)
- Intermediate math aptitude
- Willingness to provide feedback regarding acceptable quality and expectations to not pass bad product
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:
- 2- or 4-year degree in Technology/Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years Quality/Mfg. experience
- Basic knowledge of quality and lean manufacturing principles
- Basic knowledge of quality systems, SPC and process capability
- Strong aptitude in process improvement and problem solving

PROFIT SHARING:
