We looking for an Aerospace Inspector to perform 1st piece, in-process and final inspection on aircraft engine components for compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements and company specifications before or after manufacturing processes. This will also include performing inspection procedures including checking dimensions of related surfaces, holes, etc., as well as assessment of finish and detection of undesirable nonconformances. They will be required to approve items within specifications and recommend disposition of items not meeting standards. They will be responsible for verifying identification of part and supplier (internal or outside supplier). Ability to visually, dimensionally and final inspect major rotating components such as disks, shafts, air seals drums, and hubs. Work with shop personnel to assist operators in setting up gages, and performing in-process inspections. Knowledge of calibrated tooling and equipment as well as CMM experience is critical. Extensive knowledge of FAA requirements with regards to inspection criteria is also essential. Obtains blueprints and company specification sheet for the item and particular order. Must be capable of reviewing internal operation sheets against customer blueprints. Determines inspection procedure to ensure complete verification of specifications and dimensions. Obtains necessary fixtures, gauges, and indicators to check parts for compliance with specifications, within prescribed tolerances. Completes certain assurance checklists during the process. Performs dimensional checks of parts while in the machine when necessary. Rejects unacceptable items, documents nonconformance, and moves part to quality clinic. Completes required company paperwork on machined parts inspection activity. Able to oversee, prioritize and delegate the workload between the inspection staff and effectively communicate the status of parts to upper Management. Ability to read and understand work instructions such as Op Sheets, Engine Manuals, Customer Purchase Order Requirements, etc. Possess a high level of knowledge to determine the proper method of inspection to be used for each part that is being processed and/or inspected. Regular and predictable attendance. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Ability to verify conformance of machined features using measuring instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, swing gage, etc. Accurate documentation of all inspections (Ex: Receiving, In-Process, Final) and ability to work with operators to ensure all requirements are met. Communicates with co-workers, colleagues and Supervisors to receive instructions and/or guidance and coordinate activities. Organize and maintain inspection department, gaging methods, etc. Must be able to work independently and efficiently to meet customer requirements. Willing to cross-train across others in-shop disciplines/ inspection disciplines Willingness to work with shop personnel to induct incoming parts and aid in the expeditious shipment of critical parts Adaptability to different inspection methods Familiarity with Root Cause Corrective Action tools (5 why’s, Fishbone, etc.) Various other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Participate in training as required 5-10% Domestic Travel required Physical Demands: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least five years’ experience as an aerospace part inspector; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Expert knowledge of blueprint reading and machinery limitations. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must be familiar with Pratt & Whitney, GE, Sikorsky and SNECMA requirements. CMM experience with PC-DIMS recommend; not required Should have a minimum 5 years’ inspection experience preferably working in the Overhaul and Repair industry. CMM software knowledge – PC DMIS 2015 or better preferred Must be able to obtain a FAA Repairman’s certificate. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have be able to travel to other CT Sites. Must be able to perform physical duties and be able to stand, walk, push, pull reach overhead and bend to the floor. Must have visual acuity enough to be able to read machine dials, gages, Op sheets and precision measuring equipment. Ability to make and assemble gages such as a swing gage, dial bore, etc. Experience with Shadow Graph inspection, or ability to train on Shadow Graph is a plus Hanwha Aerospace USA, is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
