Essential Duties and Position Responsibilities:

• Schedule and perform chemical assays on incoming raw material that is used in the production of company products according to official compendium and BD Test Procedures.

• Perform chemical and microbial assays on samples from all stages of the manufacturing process for each product line according to BD Test Procedures.

• Requires knowledge of chemistry and experience with test methods and procedures.

• Complete in process Quality Control test reports and Inspection Procedures.

• Set up and maintain logbooks where necessary.

• Daily monitoring of laboratory equipment (i.e., refrigerators, analytical balances, and systems).

• Ensure calibrations and maintenance are performed on department equipment

• Support and assist in the development of lean thinking programs and participate in the implementation of these programs throughout the facility as required

• Maintain a good attendance and on-time record as outlined in the Attendance Guidelines for our facility

• The ability to work overtime

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required:

• High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or Microbiology preferred.

• 2-3 years “bench-top” laboratory experience preferred.

• Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

• One or more years of experience working in a medical device or other regulated industry

• Must have ability to read, write, interpret, comprehend, and consistently follow specifications written in English

• Computer literacy particularly with databases and spreadsheets / basic ability to use Microsoft Office required

• Familiarity with the operation of the following is preferred:

  • Viscometer

  • Programmable UV/VIS Spectrophotometer

  • Ether Extraction

  • Kjeldahl Systems

  • pH meter

  • LAL Gel-Clot

• Familiarity with Environmental Monitoring/Aseptic Technique

• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
