Job Summary :
The Quality Assurance Manager supports the Manufacturing (Batching/Compounding), Production (filling/packaging), and Finished Good compliance for ELCO's cosmetic and personal care products. They will be responsible for managing the Quality Assurance organization, managing & maintaining Quality Systems, and responsible for ensuring that manufactured products are compliant with applicable specifications, including internal requirements, FDA and corresponding regulatory requirements, Organic Certification requirements, and customer specifications/requirements. They will oversee the people and processes that ensure manufactured products are meeting internal and customer specifications. The Quality Assurance Manager is expected to contribute to Continuous Improvement of Quality KPIs and Quality Systems.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities :
Mange organizational structure, hiring, and onboarding plan for new employees to ensure that the QA unit is staffed appropriately to support Manufacturing and Production demand.
Ensure accurate and successful training of new employees, including continuing education to ensure ongoing compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Policies, and Quality Directives.
Ensure that products, intermediates, and ingredients meet quality standards required for their intended use.
Facilitate batch / lot record review and item releases.
Partner with Manufacturing and Production leadership to drive root cause of quality related issues in Production, develop Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Responsible for enforcing Quality System compliance and improvements to ensure consistent high quality goods with accurate and reproducible results.
Ensure compliance with regulatory authorities governing cosmetics and personal care products including Organic standards.
Supports and/or leads customer, regulatory, and internal audits as needed. Develops and implements CAPAs based on audit observations.
Assist in customer complaint and non-conformance investigations related to Manufacturing, Production, and the Quality departments and implement CAPAs.
Responsible for Change Control process management, documentation and issuance of waivers and deviations.
Responsible for Document Control process management and assurance that procedures are reviewed and maintained in compliance with defined protocols.
Responsible for Calibration process management and documentation.
Responsible for Training documentation management and maintenance. Supports and/or leads site training as applicable.
Investigate or report questionable test results; participate in out-of-specification/failure investigations of procedures or equipment and recommend corrective actions.
Manage employees that develop and maintain Quality Directives (Manufacturing Instructions) and shipper label templates.
Manage employees that develop customer Certificate of Analysis documents, evaluate third-party lab testing results, and maintain document control and change control systems to ensure compliance to SOPs, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Manage and/or support Environmental Monitoring Testing, Inspection, and Reporting.
May manage, support, or facilitate component fill weight verifications and ensure accurate Bill of Material documentation.
Partners with the Quality Control team to ensure accurate collection of customer required samples and oversees or facilitates timely shipment to customers. Maintains or manages customer requirement database.
Develop department goals, communicate goals with teams, hold team accountable to goals, and measure success against established Key Performance Indicators.
Complete corrective actions with employees as necessary.
Secondary Duties And Responsibilities :
Devise, improve, and review new specifications and procedures for products or processes, and training staff to use them.
Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) with all Quality Assurance staff.
Ensuring legal obligations are followed and compliant with regulatory bodies and with health and safety guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills :
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) is required
Knowledge of Quality Systems Requirements and experience working within these systems is required
Experience with third party auditing and regulatory certification for personal care / organic products is required

Strong knowledge of mathematics, data analysis, and statistical methods
Ability to work cross functionally with departments like Production, Warehouse, Research and Development, and Supply Chain
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Ability to learn and utilize ERP systems
Must be able to read and write in English
Experience writing SOPs, Work Instructions, Manufacturing Procedures, and training documentation
Demonstration of good attendance is required
Education/Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience in a QA or QC Supervisor or Manager role in a fast-paced Manufacturing or Production environment. Experience in cosmetic / personal care / OTC contract manufacturing strongly preferred.
3+ years of experiencing Managing 3+ employees
ASQ certification(s) strongly preferred
Physical Demands:
Must have the ability to work on a computer for most of the day, regularly use hands to type and handle materials
