Job Description

The Quality Assurance Inspector has the primary responsibility for the quality assurance inspections of merchandise received into the Fulfillment center.
The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for ensuring Lilly Pulitzer® quality assurance standards and procedures are met according to our requirements outlined in our Vendor guidelines. He/she provides support in maintaining our fit and quality integrity of bulk production. As part of the overall duties, there are four major areas of responsibility:

Process Quality Assurance to Meet Deadlines
Perform quality assurance audits utilizing the company’s quality control standards.
Learn the process for approval or rejection of goods. Bring forward methods for improvement of the process.
Review finished goods against the “Methods of Construction” criteria as part of the quality assurance audit. Update the criteria as necessary.
Review finished goods to confirm colors, trims, fabrics and embellishments are correct to specifications.
Must be able to identify and communicate quality problems such as fabric flaws, sewing defects, construction defects, color/shade deviation, and packaging errors.
Must be able to determine the difference between critical, major or minor defects.
Review and Verify TOP Samples
Review and validate the construction and measurement requirements of Top of Production samples to ensure that it’s aligned to the standards outlined in the technical package.
Evaluate Top of Production samples, organize and document all information in the style file.
Review specifications and technical packages. Make recommendations for improvements as applicable.
Meet Deadlines and Respect the Merchandise
This position requires an appreciation of the deadlines inherent to the industry. Because of the seasonality of the business, timeliness is essential. Merchandise is either on time or not; there is no concept of lateness. Deadlines must be met.
Be mindful of shipping schedules, both of inbound and outbound shipments. Set audit priorities to meet these shipping deadlines.
Assist in repairing second quality goods to first quality status as necessary and as able.
All operations in the Fulfillment center require an appreciation and respect for the merchandise. Lilly Pulitzer® merchandise is special and high quality. It should be handled with care and respect.
SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM SUCCESSFULLY:
This position requires a high level of responsibility, dependability and commitment.
Computer skills on Microsoft® Windows, Excel® and Word® are required for this position.
The willingness and aptitude to learn to use computer applications relevant to the position are required.
Knowledge of pattern making, fabric inspection and sewing experience is helpful.
An understanding of construction, measurements, design details and technical packages are required.
The ability to identify quality and construction problems and offer knowledgeable solutions.
This position requires an extremely high sense of urgency and the ability to meet difficult seasonal peaks, workloads and deadlines.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A high school diploma is required for this position.
Two to three years of relevant work experience in a quality assurance, distribution, or factory environment in soft goods or apparel, is required.
MISCELLANEOUS:
This position is considered full-time, non-exempt for fringe benefit purposes.
This position must operate within specific work rules of the Fulfillment center. These include the following:
A morning break is from 9:30 AM – 9:40 AM. The breaks or lunch are the times for refreshments, smoking (outside the building, only), going to the bathroom or personal business such as phone calls. Lunch will be conducted in shifts ranging from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM. An afternoon break is from 2:30 PM – 2:40 PM. Smoking in the Fulfillment center is prohibited. Smoking in the kitchen or the bathrooms is prohibited. Smoking may occur outside the building outside the kitchen, or outside the building outside the front entrance. Cigarette butts must be placed in safe ashtrays or sand filled containers, which will be provided. Smoking may occur only before work, after work, during breaks or during lunch. All vacations require the prior approval of the Quality Assurance Supervisor and the Manager of Quality Assurance and Social Compliance. Call the Quality Assurance Supervisor and Manager of Quality Assurance and Social Compliance in the event of absence or lateness.
This position is reviewed annually.
