Research and Writing (35%)
- Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities;
- Consult with senior leadership to determine funding priorities;
- Collaborate with department leadership to secure information needed for proposals and budgets;
- Collect quantitative and qualitative data to inform and strengthen proposals;
- Draft letters of inquiry and grant proposals.
- Maintain a database of current, recent and prospective funders;
- Maintain a schedule of deadlines for upcoming letters of inquiry and grant proposals;
- Manage the submission process for letters of inquiry and grant proposals.
- Reporting, Coordination & Relationship Building (35%)
- Draft narrative and financial reports in accordance with the requirements of each funder;
- Collaborate with program staff to secure information needed for reports;
- Work with Finance team to prepare expense reports;
- Provide bi-weekly reports to the senior leadership team on the status of recent and pending grant proposal submissions;
- Prepare tables, graphs and charts to summarize and showcase program results and effectiveness;
- Establish and maintain communication with program and grant officers.
- Communication (30%)
- Generate content for outreach and promotional materials (print, audio and video);
- Collaborate with Grants Manager and Director of Development and Communications to create newsletters and annual report;
- Work with the Director of Development and Communications to enhance the BMS brand;
- Manage BMS’ social media strategy;
- Write press releases, as needed, and serve as press liaison for the organization
Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree and three years of professional experience required;
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable;
- Outstanding office and organizational skills, including high proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet research;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate directly and effectively with others;
- Highly organized and attentive to detail, flexible; analytical and problem-solving skills, works well under pressure and multiple, competing demands;·
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse staff across an institution; strong team player with recognized leadership capacity, sense of humor, excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to build trust among team members;
- High level of productivity, initiative, creativity, and excellent judgment;
- Self-motivated and able to function independently;
- Passion for health care equity, food access, women’s health, reproductive rights, and/or providing resources for low-income minority communities a must.
