GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for providing assistance and support in the supervision of recreation programs, operations, and facilities. Duties will include: Meet and greet the public. Maintain friendly customer service in all situations. Answer telephones and provide information to the public. Have comfort level working with the general public under high traffic situations. Assist with computerized registration, correspondence, public relations, record keeping and reports. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment. Protect and supervise facilities and patrons. Assist with programming or conducting activities and special events for the general population as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 0 to 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possesses a valid Texas Class "C" license when hired in order to travel to different program sites and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's Vehicle Insurance Policy. Must possess current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within six months from date of employment. Job Responsibilities
1. Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies and procedures.
2. Assists in planning, organizing, promoting, and supervising recreation activities including special events, after-school and outdoor recreation programs and classes, teen programs, senior programs, youth and adult sports.
3. Set-up/Break-down recreational and program equipment for events and activities.
4. Purchases and maintains supplies for the City's recreation programs.
5. The ability to work in a team environment; contribute as a team member and treat co-workers, subordinates and customers with respect.
6. Schedules, hires, trains, supervises, and assists in evaluating part-time staff and/or volunteers.
7. Creates flyers to promote recreation programs and special events and certificates for sports programs.
8. Prepares League schedules for youth and adult sports programs.
9. Drafts social media content and press releases and prepares public information regarding the City's recreation program(s).
10. Evaluates recreation programs and generates ideas for new programs.
11. Maintains activity records and prepares special reports and correspondence.
12. Schedules facilities, updates related calendars and logs, and completes appropriate permits for recreation programs and special events.
13. May plan menus, arrange for food and entertainment, decorate, and serve meals and refreshments at special events.
14. May collect monies for program registration or at special events.
15. May respond to inquiries by customers by phone or in-person.
16. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
17. Preform other duties as assigned.
18. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. Physical Requirements
