Description

Grow with the best. Join a smart, creative, and inspired team that accomplishes operational excellence. Bringing together individuals with diverse backgrounds, talents, and expertise, our 22,000 team members in over 350 locations worldwide are vital to making our company stronger.

Your Opportunity

Are you curious, enjoy organizing, and have a knack for translating technical information into a compelling story? If yes, this position could be the right fit for your unique skill set. We are seeking a Proposal Specialist to join our Water Marketing team. Our team’s primary focus is winning work related to top, strategic water infrastructure projects, and to assist in marketing communication projects, and deliverables. Proposal Specialists in our group work collaboratively within a team to clearly communicate sales strategies and highly technical concepts in SOQs/proposals.

Your Key Responsibilities

There are several task areas for this position, and it varies by proposal; that means there is plenty of opportunity to build a strong foundation of skills in research, writing, and project management. Our work is fast-paced, deadline-driven, and team focused. Tasks range from researching and writing/editing resumes, project descriptions, and other sections to dissecting client requirements and tracking compliance; creating project management status reports; supporting strategy sessions; and facilitating data calls with practitioners and partnering firms—and all of this while learning about water engineering consulting industry.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Proposal/Project Coordination and Support – Within the proposal process, you will independently lead or work with a proposal manager to create SOQs, proposals, and oral presentations of varying complexity. You will perform and oversee research projects and actively support our information management systems. The SOQs and proposals vary from qualifications-based documents to multiple volume proposals containing resumes, project descriptions, technical approaches, and cost/schedule information. In a team setting that includes marketing/sales professionals, visual designers and technical experts, you will help clearly communicate sales strategies through compelling writing and visuals. A strong attention to detail is important for this job since our documents must be compliant and meet specific client requirements. Our team prides itself on outstanding work and excellent customer service—you will need to as well!
  • Proposal Writing/Editing and Information Management – This is not a cut and paste job. Although we have a lot of information to use as a starting point, we are working on strategic pursuits, so our content is customized to the specific job and client. You must enjoy pulling together written elements—researching, writing/rewriting, editing—for inclusion in a larger document. We use style guides to maintain consistency with Stantec’s voice and brand. With 22,000 people and growing, there are a lot of wonderful stories to be researched and captured for use in proposals. Similar to a journalist, you will interview people to create content. We are sticklers about deconstructing information into the appropriate servers and databases for use on future pursuits. Information management, meaning helping to add, clean, and maintain the databases and server areas, is a natural partnership with the research that is performed in this role.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Must have intermediate/advanced skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) on a PC platform. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign) is a plus, but not required.
