Position Description::
GZA is growing its water resources practice, primarily in the areas of water supply, water works, infrastructure assessment and design. We are currently seeking a Project Manager: Level Civil/Water Supply Engineer: for our practice based in the Norwood, Massachusetts office. The position offers great potential for professional growth in an exciting working environment and the opportunity to apply the latest technology to water resource and waterworks-related projects. The qualified candidate must have strong leadership and project management experience and direct business development experience during their careers, with the ability to generate project leads and build client relationships.

The Civil/Water Supply Engineer will work on a wide variety of projects including, but not limited to, public water system evaluations and advice, computer hydraulic modeling, pumping, treatment, distribution and storage facilities engineering, hydraulic structure design including related environmental permitting support. A sound knowledge of engineering principles relating to design and construction of waterworks, and other water infrastructure, is essential for this position. The successful candidate must have a strong civil background to support planning, design, and construction management activities for a variety of projects.

This is a management position that requires direct interaction with clients and the ability to manage and mentor GZA existing staff of project-level engineers. You will also work closely with GZA’s Technical Practice Group Leader in training staff and developing water supply services in our branch offices in New England, the mid-Atlantic, and Great Lake regions.

Position Requirements::

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or related field of practice is required. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer license in MA is required with the ability to obtain PE in CT, NY, and RI with reciprocity.
  • An ideal candidate will have at least 10 year:s’ experience in civil - site design, with direct involvement in water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution design, hydraulic modeling, and water supply permitting.
  • Direct experience completing projects with public sector/municipal agencies in the New England Region is highly preferred.::
  • Proven experience with design and development of engineering technical specifications, cost estimating and other related bidding documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to speak publicly
  • Solid project financial management skills; knowledge of production support systems and personal computer proficiency are all required competencies.
  • Experience in providing technical and project leadership to staff-level or junior engineers.
  • A strong background using various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software is desirable.
  • Proven experience with and directing staff with AutoCAD and ArcView-GIS is considered beneficial for this position.
