What does a great Project Manager do?

The purpose of the Project Manager’s job is to ensure predictable, consistent, and successful project delivery. The Project Manager plans, coordinates, and monitors medium to large sized scope and budget projects, and partners with key business stakeholders to ensure a successful start-up and completion of projects. The Project Manager is expected to work under limited supervision with oversight provided by the Professional Services leader.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Leading projects from intake through final implementation, working with internal resources and external customers, while cultivating ongoing client relationships.
  • Defining scope, requirements and project timing for each initiative.
  • Developing detailed project plans and schedules.
  • Preparing and conducting internal and external presentations.
  • Coordinating/partnering with other project/program managers and organizational entities to identify and monitor issues, impacts and dependencies.
  • Taking ownership of the change management process.
  • Controlling and tracking project performance, time allocations, cost, and quality by constantly evaluating project progress and conducting regular team and client status meetings.
  • Detailing new processes and procedures identified throughout the project relating to new product/feature functionality.
  • Supporting occasional weekend production events.

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's preferred
  • Proven experience in project management processes and methodologies, as well as, project lifecycle
  • 5 + years of project management experience, including tracking and planning large scale projects
  • 7+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment
  • 5 + years of experience with full product lifecycle with understanding of development lifecycle and various technology methodologies that support that lifecycle
  • Strong leadership, tactful and motivational skills including the ability to clearly communicate up, across and down multiple business units
  • Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
  • Travel Required: Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, as needed
  • Work Environment: Occasionally required to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Experience in banking, financial services, and/or software industries
  • PMI certification Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Experience managing software implementation projects
  • MS Project proficiency
