Project Environmental Scientist – Wetlands Details

The Project Environmental Scientist – Wetlands will join our Wetlands and Ecological Services Group in Westwood or Pocasset MA offices and work with an experienced team of project managers, scientists, and engineers throughout the Environmental Business Line, across disciplines, and with 12 other offices in the Northeast region. This is a hybrid position where professionals work from the office, the field, and remotely.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a similar field
  • B.S. degree or equivalent (M.S. preferred) in an environmental sciences field (Environmental Science, Biology, Soil Science, Ecology or a related field), with coursework in biology, hydrology, botany and soils
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead wetland delineation and field data collection
  • Technical writing skills
  • Experience with federal, state, and local permitting in Massachusetts or Connecticut
  • Experience presenting projects at local public meetings for wetlands review
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and multitasking environment, where you are resourceful to meet challenges, attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate routinely with client and project team to determine and implement project requirements
  • Lead project teams and coordinate with field teams performing botanical, wetlands, and wildlife surveys
  • Apply knowledge of natural resource principles for preparation of environmental documents and reports
  • Performing natural resource surveys including, but not limited to, wetland delineations and functional assessments, wildlife habitat evaluations and rare species surveys
  • Preparation of studies and technical reports
  • Coordination with client and project teams for permit requirements
  • Wetland permitting at the local, state, and federal level
  • Technical report writing
  • Environmental compliance monitoring
  • Public hearing presentations
