The Role: Xylem seeks to hire an Project Engineer to work out of Zelienople, PA office. The PE will work within a multi-disciplinary regional team consisting of a Territory Manager, Applications Engineer, Electrical Engineer, and Project Manager. The Project Engineer will support the team by am by assisting with the design and execution of the as sold scope of supply for specification driven projects. Additionally, the Project Engineer will demonstrate complete ownership of project execution related to both mechanical and electrical design and implementation including: submittal development & approvals, factory acceptance testing, project startup, and field service support.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate (or coordinate the efforts of sub-contractors) the multiple components and systems which compromise an ozone water treatment system order.
  • Review order documents to ensure that the Company meets the technical requirements of the contract, including all exceptions, clarifications, and confirmations to the customer’s technical specification. Assist Buyer with defining product specifications to vendors.
  • Participate in order turnover meetings and all customer and project meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain Project Document Schedule and Master Document List.
  • Prepare Bills of Material, purchase specifications and requisitions.
  • Interface with the Mechanical Designer, Electrical Engineer, and Electrical Designer on designs and drawings and supervise the distribution and control of all drawings and documents required to support order placements, manufacturing/assembly operations, and customer software needs.
  • Prepare equipment test plans and coordinate testing services.
  • Coordinate the preparation of O&M manuals.
  • Provide support during the manufacturing, shop testing, installation and commissioning phases of an ozone system.
  • Assure resolution of all customer and suppler technical questions.
  • Review all technical software submittals.
  • Support the organization and archiving of all documents after order completion.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve field problems.
  • Develop various standard components, new equipment and subsystems used in projects.
  • Provide expertise and support in multiple disciplines to fellow Division members.
  • Support the preparation of proposals for new orders, including preparing technical and purchase specifications, cost estimates, and drawings.
  • Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.
  • Know Xylem’s Quality and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering and minimum 1 to 5 years engineering experience in water or waste water treatment or equivalent education and experience.
  • Developed computer skills with emphasis on PLCs, MSOffice products and CAD software.
  • Developed oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to read and edit P&IDs.
