Cardno is seeking a Project Accounting Coordinator for the Natural Resources Project Controls team. Successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of related experience, with the relevant skills and background that will be required in order to fill the position without extensive training.

Job Description:

Cardno is seeking a Project Accounting Coordinator for our Natural Resources Project Controls team. Successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of related experience, with the relevant skills and background that will be required in order to fill the position without extensive training.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide project budget and billing support to the Project Controls team and Project Managers
  • Prepare and process subcontractor Requisitions and Purchase Orders
  • Review, process, enter, and track subcontractor invoices
  • Track project budgets and work with Project Managers to assure project expenditures are closely monitored
  • Review client invoices and related backup for accuracy
  • Finalize billing in BST and third party software, as needed in according to client requirements and deadlines
  • Set up projects per client requirements and company guidelines
  • Create and modify budget spreadsheets in Excel as needed, including extensive data manipulation and formatting
  • Assist in review and processing of client and subconsultant contracts
  • Accounts Receivable follow up and reporting in BST
  • Audit unbilled receivables (WIP) and variance reports for profit optimization
  • Analyze vendor invoices and expense reports and confirm contractual compliance for invoicing inclusion
  • Other related tasks, as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of project accounting principles
  • Experience with professional services billing and accounts payable processing
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, must possess a professional manner and customer service mindset
  • Ability to work well independently and with a professional team in a fast-paced, team oriented work environment
  • Detail oriented and resourceful, with the ability and aptitude to learn new programs and skills quickly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Office
  • A minimum of a high school diploma plus 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Positive and energetic attitude
  • Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship

    Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Previous project accounting experience, preferably for environmental consulting, planning or engineering
  • Experience with professional services contracts, task orders and contract administration
  • Undergraduate degree in business or accounting
  • BST and/or Ariba experience a plus
  • Experience in working with and providing support to diverse groups in all levels of management
  • Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated and confident with strong initiative
  • Ability to see the "big picture" and use common sense to make decisions
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with ability and desire to build trusting, long-term relationships
