About the Role

The Project Accountant is the primary accounting and administrative support for construction projects from start up through final closeout. The Project Accountant performs activities related to contracts, bonds, insurance, payables, liens, billings, payroll/cost/budget reports for the job site management team.
What You Will Do / Essential Functions
- Accounts Payable – Review, validate, enter, and route job related payables
- Job Billings – Create and deliver job invoices in an accurate and timely manner, consistent with contract and customer requirements
- Accounts Receivable – Cash receipts are received and accurately applied, collection management activities are routine and diligent, as required to maintain acceptable AR balances
- Contract Management – Job set-up and maintenance are accurate and timely, change orders are monitored and managed
- Job Cost – Costs are monitored, reviewed, and managed. Cost estimates are projected and adjusted, per the Estimators and the Project Management team
- Support is provided to the Estimators, Project Management and to the Accounting Team, as required
- The above represents the core tasks, other tasks will be assigned as needed
What You Bring / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3 years of Accounting experience, in the construction industry or comparable
- Proficiency in basic accounting principles
- Proficient using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, the internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Customer Service – Dedicated to meeting/exceeding the expectations and requirements of both internal and external clients
- Interpersonal Skills – Verbally communicates effectively with an open and receptive approach. Individual demonstrates composure, listening, patience, and seeks to inform as well as understand. Written communication is effective and accurate, presented in a professional manner
- Computer/Technology – Basic computer skills including intermediate MS Office skill, proficiency in Excel is required
- Accuracy - Strong attention to detail and produce error-free work product. Able to prioritize workload and possess multi-tasking and time management skills
