POSITION SUMMARY

This position manages all programs and client services at the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County. Projects and programs include: family support management, support group facilitation, community outreach, in-service trainings, public presentations, educational conferences and seminars, short-term individual and family counseling, advocacy, consultation and referrals to clients with epilepsy and their families when personal, medical, social or environmental difficulties develop/exist that may impede quality of life.

Responsible for providing leadership and planning for all of our programs and client services. Develop quality measurement structures and processes to measure program operations and outcomes, provide strategic direction and development and assure programs and services including case management is practiced utilizing a systematic approach based on best practices.

The responsibilities of this role will be to develop plans for marketing and implementation of all programs and services, in addition to optimizing utilization of resources and assisting with resource development.

Position demands multiple skill domains including self-starter, public speaking, education, and leadership. This role works closely with a social work team to serve the needs of the community. Oversees budget development and maintains responsibility for achieving budgetary objectives.

JOB DUTIES

  • Develop and implement epilepsy support & education programs in the communities of San Diego County and beyond.
  • Collaborate with part-time MSW contractor who helps support our client services and group counseling.
  • Supervise and mentor two college MSW interns yearly
  • Coordinate support services for families and individuals affected by epilepsy including referrals for services.
  • Coordinate incoming requests for epilepsy information.
  • Maintain resource library and referral files.
  • Develop and implement client support group meetings.
  • Provide in-service training to personnel in educational, public, and private sectors.
  • Deliver community education in the form of presentations, public seminars and conferences.
  • Identify and develop public outreach opportunities and programs to increase support and interest in the EFSDC’s mission, goals and programs.
  • Maintain client database.
  • Manage grants.
  • Coordinate EFSDC’s Professional Advisory Board meetings.
  • Collaborate with the National organization (Epilepsy Foundation of America) on advocacy issues, Teens Speak Up & Public Policy Institute, Seizure First Aid Training, resources, etc.
  • Produce annual program reports and statistics.
  • Represent EFSDC to collaborative community agencies.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work required.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a skilled decision maker that works proactively in a high stress environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and act as a case manager and counselor for individuals and families.
  • Professional experience working with disability services, culturally diverse populations and commitment to social justice.
  • Experience in providing direct support services to individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the Foundation in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to communicate the Foundation’s purpose and mission.
  • Proven ability in project planning and relationship building.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively handle multiple projects on various timelines in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse staff, community based organizations and partners.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, experience with database programs a plus.
  • Grant writing experience helpful.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BRING:

  • 3-5 years minimum experience.
  • Excitement about the organization’s mission.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other case management software program.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and access to reliable transportation.
  • Candidate should be based in the San Diego area.

Benefits include a generous paid vacation and holiday schedule, health, dental and vision insurance, and a 403(b) Retirement Plan. This position is full time with occasional nights and weekends. Salary range: $57,000 - $63,000 per year, plus benefits, depending upon level of experience.
