COMPENSATION: $56,500 - 60,000, DOE
La Familia’s Recovery and Wellness Department has provided outpatient and residential substance abuse services since the 1970s.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a well-qualified Substance Use Counselor with excellent leadership experience in the Contra Costa Youth and Perinatal Programs. Both programs provide outreach and substance use counseling services to adolescents and women who are pregnant or parenting, respectively, in the Richmond and Concord areas of Contra Costa County.
Contra Costa Youth Program is an adolescent substance use and addiction treatment program working with youth between the ages of 12 and 18 years of age. The goal of the program is to reduce the likelihood of alcoholism and drug abuse by youth and to assist them in becoming an established and integral part of the community both through direct service and increasing awareness of the available support among key community members and organizations.
Contra Costa Perinatal program is has a focus on serving women who are currently pregnant or parenting. This program will initially focus on outreach and partnership development and also provides limited substance use treatment services.
Both programs conduct outreach to the local area to inform other service providers, schools, social service organizations, and community members about the availability of these services, with a focus on services for individuals who are Spanish-speaking and/or Latinx.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Basic Functions)
This individual will be responsible:
- Outreach Lead and Support
- Lead as coordinator and liaison with local funders and stakeholders including attending relevant meetings and relaying information to the team appropriately;
- Lead on locating, identifying, and initiating the engagement process with stakeholders who currently work with individuals eligible for services in both programs by frequenting locations throughout Contra Costa County with a focus on the Richmond and Concord areas;
- Establish working partnerships with stakeholders and referral organizations including schools, youth centers, child protective agencies, social services, justice systems, behavioral health agencies, other substance use providers and similar;
- Maintain positive agency relations with other service providers to provide enhanced services for eligible clients;
- Accurately and thoroughly represent the importance and value of substance use services for youth, and specifically the services offered within this program.
- Quality Improvement Monitoring
- Monitor and review documentation and clinical quality;
- Develop, monitor, and refine quality assurance procedures;
- Conducts database training on best practices regarding documentation policies and procedures;
- Leads Utilization Reviews, chart audits;
- Oversees client records system.
- Staff Supervision
- Provide weekly individual and group supervision for all counselors;
- Provide training, coaching, and oversight to staff to ensure productivity expectations are met;
- Develop and edit training materials for all staff included in the work of their department;
- Coordinate and maintain adequate team staffing, including collaborating with La Familia Human Resources for recruitment, retention, performance appraisals, employee discipline, and termination;
- Oversee work product of independent contractors, as appropriate.
- Other Duties:
- Participate in regular clinical meetings and work collaboratively with other department leadership;
- Attend collaborative meetings with other agencies;
- Attend trainings, monitor trade publications, and participate in events relevant to key responsibilities;
- Track and regularly report on key metrics for responsible function areas;
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Recovery and Wellness and Executive Team.
Qualifications:
- Required - California Drug and Alcohol Certification (must be either a “CADC” from CCAPP, or “CATC” from CAADE, please list this designation and number clearly after candidate name on CV);
- Two years of management/supervisory experience;
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance and quality improvement and assurance processes;
- Knowledge of ASAM criteria and Levels of Care;
- Knowledge of best practices for alcohol and drug prevention and recovery/treatment;
- Experience working with co-occurring health, mental health, and SUD populations;
- Experience supervising staff with lived experience;
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
