PurposeAs a Technical Professional Educator, you play a critical part in setting employees up for success in their roles. In this role you are a motivational and trusted subject matter expert in the field of training and have a high degree of understanding of operational/business knowledge in Field Operations, Network Operations and Construction.The Technical Professional Educator is responsible for delivery of learning and development solutions, programs, courses resulting in improved individual performance and business results. This role facilitates knowledge transfer to employees through performance-based learning that includes highly interactive discussions, role plays and group exercises. The Technical Professional Educator ensures a quality learning experience by providing training delivery, subject matter expertise, skill development and serves as a coach, consultant, collaborator and facilitator. Facilitation will include a variety of mediums including, but not limited to, classroom facilitation, virtual classroom, webinar, huddles and informal learning channels.
Major Tasks- Delivers formal and informal training via a variety of methods to include: classroom, virtual classroom, webinar, huddle, e-learning, coaching
- Provides instruction on a variety of areas such as, product installation and maintenance, safety, home/business security systems
- Responsible for the effective delivery of training that could include product knowledge, sales, desktop tools and technology systems, processes and applications, customer service, enterprise initiatives, and others as needed by the business
- Provides direct feedback to learners to aid in the refinement of existing skills and the development of new skills.
- Authorized and expected to act in a supervisory capacity in partnership with the direct leader, while facilitating (Classroom or VLT) which includes managing behaviors, attendance, and other performance matters
- Models leadership capabilities while serving as a change champions.
- Conducts training sessions across multiple functional and geographical areas and performs necessary follow-up review to ensure absorption and retention of knowledge and skill
- Works collaboratively with colleagues across functions to share best practices and synergies as it relates to driving efficiencies across business initiatives and solutions
- Collaborates proactively on content and enhancement of learner materials by providing feedback to curriculum development
- Proactively stays current and maintains business knowledge related to newly released and/or enhanced processes, products and services
- Provides support to third-party vendors as appropriate
Qualifications:Required- 3 years in a field operation technician or engineering role
- 3 years experience working in telecommunications with expertise in fiber optics and IP networks
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts and product knowledge with ease to facilitate learner comprehension and application
- Demonstrated strong understanding of company goals, systems, and strategies to maximize efficiency in the workplace
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated knowledge in adult learning methodology and approach
- Serve as a general subject matter expert for employees as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a group and motivate behavior change
- Ability to direct, supervise and energize small groups in a classroom setting
- Demonstrated leadership skills including creativity, integrity, sound judgment, initiative and flexibility
- Ability to act professional and confidently in various situations
- Ability to quickly learn programs and product offerings
- Proven time-management skills
- Ability to travel up to approximately 50% of the time.
Preferred- BS/BA degree in Technology/Engineering/Computer Science
- Jones NCTI Master Technical Certification
- SCTE Certification
- Cisco Certification (CCENT, CCNA, CCNP,CCDP)
- Operational business experience with a minimum of 3 years of effective training delivery in diverse context such as facilitation, coaching, performance support of employees
- Supervisor experience
- Experience with learning management systems to include roster management, class registrations and close outs
- Experience with webinar tools or other remote training tools (Webex)
- Experience in:
- Structured wiring (e.g., new construction electrical, low voltage wiring, home entertainment system wiring); field service installation and repair in voice (telephony); data (HSI), or video (RF/cable).
- Problem management and resolution, including network failure isolation and repair
- RF networking knowledge
- IP networking knowledge
- Familiarity with element management systems
- Familiarity with signal level meters and voltage meters
- Working knowledge of transmission, switching, powering, grounding, and cabling.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
- Working knowledge of fiber backbone and loop architectures and technologies.
- experience working with IP, Ethernet, SONET, DWDM, DOCSIS, Video and telephone technologies
- Experience specifically in provisioning and troubleshooting layer II and III networks
- Demonstrated knowledge of performance testing and test equipment
