Novelis Buckhannon Manufacturing Facility - Buckhannon, WV

Position Overview: Manufacturing candidates wanted with ability to operate highly technical production equipment. Prior manufacturing experience preferred with ability to work in team environment. Successful candidates must be available to work any shift and overtime. Candidates must have good communication, interpersonal and computer skills, ability to accurately use measurement instruments and good mathematical problem solving skills.Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • Check all packaging instructions required for each shop order.
  • Ensure proper placement of aluminum coils on pallet to avoid shipping damage.
  • Remove outer wraps that are off gauge or have a bad surface.
  • Determine banding requirements according to shop order.
  • Check width and gauge of the coils to ensure compatibility with the shop order.
  • Palletize coils using appropriate spacing.
  • Perform crane and hoist inspections and operate grab to palletize coils.
  • Operate air nail gun for wedges.
  • Write the shop order number and the number of coils on the pallet.
  • Assist packer helper retrieve pallets.
  • Determine skid size according to shop order or OD of coils.
  • Move pallet down conveyer to be weighed and tagged on the scale.
  • Learn and grow in a team environment
  • Mentor other Operators
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Keep work area as clean as possible.
Location Profile: The Buckhannon facility opened in 1999 to serve the electrical conductor industry and other light-gauge applications primarily 1350 and 1100 alloy products. Since then capabilities have expanded to include the manufacture of 5052 6061 and 3003 alloys for cookware products. Products are produced for mill finish electrical conductors cookware products packaging and distribution. Buckhannon is considered a niche shop employing around 70 people and processing a wide range of products in smaller quantities for many markets and customers.
