This role is responsible for having general knowledge of each job in the manufacturing department and backfilling roles as needed. This position will be cross trained in loading and unloading materials, salvage recovery, mixing, driving a fork lift, filling and packaging, inventory and housekeeping functions.

What You Will Do:

  • Communicates and train other associates on any job for which qualified
  • Cross train and back fill functions including mixing, operating a production line and housekeeping
  • Actively participates in all departmental training, TPM or 5S projects and continuous improvement activities
  • Advises and assists other employees on technical matters as needed
  • Ensures all safety, housekeeping and environmental rules and guidelines are followed
  • Generates and implements ideas that improve quality indicators, in line with cost, investment and service goals.
  • Plans, schedules and prioritizes work in a timely manner to support manufacturing productions
  • Safely spots tankers in rail yard area for product transfer
  • Connects hoses to proper pipelines in order to transfer material to correct tank
  • Assembles load packages for driver, record seals as they are placed on tanker
  • Follows regulations (DOT, Hazmat, FDA, etc.) pertaining to storage and shipment of chemical products. Ensures tankers are properly placarded
  • Manages wastewater treatment, tote offs and labeling
  • Manages tote farm, wash totes, maintain inventory of clean and usable totes for operation. Inventory, weigh and label product according to SOP
  • Wash lines and tanks according to procedures. Perform wash water and salvage/recoup activities per SOP’s as directed
  • Accurate completion of paperwork and documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Details:

  • Plant location: Joliet , IL (must reside in commuting distance)
  • Work week and shift: 6pm- 6am, rotating schedule (Week 1: M, Tu, Fr, Sat and Week 2: Su, W, Th)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of previous manufacturing environment, preferred production/mixing experience
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, percentages.
  • Must be able to visually interpret dials, gauges, and switches.
  • Ability to read and match numbers on shipping logs, labels, raw materials and finished goods.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Must be able to participate in respirator fitness if required
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical exam

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous forklift operating experience
  • Previous experience in a related industry (chemical, food products, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, etc.)
  • CDL – A license, not required but good to have
  • DOT – Department of transportation training (Ecolab will provide if needs renewal)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to learn and apply new technologies and management concepts
