Job Summary
Directly supervise and train manufacturing personnel in a manner consistent with overall Company’s policies and procedures. Plan and manage the day to day allocation of resources (equipment, people, materials and systems) in order to efficiently, safely and cost-effectively achieve performance targets. Improve performance through coaching, training and developing employees. Implement and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise personnel and coordinate production work-flow
- Ensure all production schedules are completed at the end of the shift and that company quality standards are met each day
- Ensure that all personnel, prior to the start of shift, are wearing the correct safety equipment and that safety awareness is maintained throughout the shift
- Ensure that all safety and incident reporting procedures are followed as well as all individuals are properly trained and their job functions are being performed correctly
- Report to maintenance and/or safety personnel any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions and/or maintenance
- Complete verbal and written disciplinary warnings/counseling in accordance with the company’s policy and procedures
- Perform performance evaluations for direct reports
- Track absenteeism and review and approve employees’ time worked in timekeeping system
- Comply with all Corporate safety guidelines by participating in required safety programs and audits
- Other duties as assigned
Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of the job.
Skills Knowledge and Ability Requirements
To be considered for this position, the successful candidate should possess the following:
- High school diploma, or equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with staff and management
- Able to efficiently and effectively handle shifting and multiple priorities
- Self-motivator as well as the ability to motivate and stimulate the activities of others
- Able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment
- Problem analysis resolution
- Basic computer familiarity
- Able to read and perform basic mathematical calculations as well as read and write measurements in numbers, fractions and decimals at a high school education or equivalent level
- Able to read and properly utilize a tape measure
- Experience in glass/metal industry preferred

- Hazards - Exposure to Excessive Noise, Strain/Sprain, Laceration/Puncture, Contusion, Operating Motor Vehicle, Operation of Foot Controls, Operation of Hand Controls, Slipping, Climbing, Heavy lifting
- Controls - Personal Protective Equipment, Safety Training, Written Procedures
Work Environment
- Various types of weather, traffic, and road conditions
- Normal climate conditions of the region will also be present such as humidity, heat, and cold
- Noise levels in the work environment (in truck or plant facility) can be moderate to high
- Plant facility environment is subject to unusually warm temperatures during the summer months due to the heat generated by the glass tempering furnaces
- With the plant facility, while the odors from glass cleaning, sealants, and other products are within acceptable levels, they nevertheless, can be smelled. Dust, pollen and other typical airborne particulate matter are also present within the atmosphere within the plant facility.
